Fear of PVP

Okay, so I may seem like the weirdest person ever, but I have a fear of playing PVP. I just don't believe I'm good enough to go up against real players. I've been playing bots but I seem to die so many times from them. I've been playing for about a year and I feel awful because I haven't been improving much, I haven't been developing farming/gameplay strategies that work for me. I've played ARAM and one game of PVP but my heart was racing during those games and I felt really uncomfortable. I'm also afraid of some of the really aggressive players, because I'm a pretty sensitive person. I don't want to be, but I just am. Please let me know if you have any tips; I think all I need is a boost of confidence.
