Not sure if this is the right place, BUT I might as well put it here

So, I KNOW this may not be the best place, but I REALLY want to learn how to be a GOOD support. I don't have many support champs unlocked but I'm working towards it.

I'd like to learn how to play OTHER roles, but my main would mostly be support. In almost every game I tend to take a supporting role (Examples being: Medic in TF2, Healer in WoW, Aphrodite Support in Smite, even in Runescape I tend to tank damage from bosses, or play a supporting role in minigames.)

Support is a role that fits me. :) But I don't really play it that well as it is, and I'd like to know how to play other roles as well!

I'm NOT ready for competitive, due to my lack of confidence in my playing, however, that's not to say I don't WANT to play competative someday! :)

Any tips, tricks, advice would be appreciated.

If you're gonna troll be a good one. Crappy trolls will just get laughed at and put on my wall of shame, of bad trolls. **Luv u doe <3 **

Taric, Braum, Leona, and Sona are all great champs to start with. Taric is the easiest with a nice mixture of heals and CC, with a few tank options. Braum is full on defense tank, and so is Leona with just a little more CC. Sona is great for poking and healing, and great for the aggressive support. Stay back by the brushes and be ready to defend your ADC- or constantly poke down the enemy to prevent them from trading. Always stick with your ADC until he/she is perfectly fine on their own. Sightstone is usually a must for supports, because the coverage you can do with it is massive. Now for the passive support items: item 3069 Talisman of Acension: Great for passive laning, and has a great hard engage at max level. item 3092 Frost Queen's Claim: Great for poking types of champs, this gives you more gold the more you attack, and the active is a good disengage. item 3401 Face of the Mountain: For those tanky types, the passive heals your partner slightly, with the active at max level good for shielding your carries.

Remember, the most important thing about support is putting other's lives above your own. Save your carry, even if it costs your life.

Note that there are (at least in the main meta) Two primary roles for supports. A Tanky Support, and a Poke-heavy Support. Currently it seems like the Meta now sides with a Tank based Support champions (like Blitz, Bard, Braum, Alistar, Thresh, Taric)

With a Tanky Champion you would obvious build Defensive items as well as Health. Usually getting the Relic Shield line of the support item, as well as SightStone (although this should be automatic for any type of person playing support) Movement Speed Boosts (as Tanky supports are usually slow) or at the very least Magic Resistance Boots (for that Tenacity) Then for Defensive usually getting Locket of the iron Solari, Iceborn Gauntlet, Tornmail, Warmogs, Athene's Unholy Grail, can all help with Armor, Health, and MR.

For a Poke Heavy type of champion like Sona, Nami, Lulu, Soraka. They can help usually with their skills being long range to help keep your enemy from either attacking your ADC (or any teammate), getting or denying them CS.

With Champions like that youll want to buy items that help scale on your Abilities to harass your enemies the best you can, while also getting items that can buff up your teammates. Items like: either of the beginning Support items Amulet Coin or SpellThief's Edge can help in the long run or either giving you more damage (STE) or helping you with mana regen to continue to use your spells (AC) Again SightStone is a must for helping to Ward, but that Health boost is good as well. The rest usually falls in line of helping you and the team with an Aura boost from the items like: Lich Bane (especially on Sona with her Passive can deal massive damage on an opponent) Rylai's Crystal Scepter can help by slowing your enemies plus a good amount of a health boost. Abyssal Scepter not only helps with Magic Resistance, but also negates the enemy MR while near them (in team fights) Zeke's Halbinger will work best especially if your ADC can pull off Crits. Along with Omewreker, ZZ'Rot Portal, Banner of Command can help you get objectives as they help disable Towers (Omewreker), helps improve minions (BoC), or can help summon a Voidling to help take down turrets (ZZ) Boots are usually movement speed since you want to be fast to catch up to help your teammates where ever they are, or the Magic Pen/Resist can help as well

Also note with Supports youll want to get to 40% Cooldown fast so your skills are up as frequently as possibly. Majority of the items i list do help with CDR as well. But those are what i usually try and build (with a few exceptions of course) that helps me out with my games.

Barebones support tips:

  1. Don't touch minions without relic stacks (unless helping the ADC shove, but at a non-competitive level that will almost never happen)
  2. Rush sightstone
  3. Get aura items (items that will passively hinder enemies or boost allies just by you being nearby) and active items, I suggest considering frozen heart, locket, Zeke's and Righteous glory
  4. Your life is worth less than every other teammate's (unless someone is 0/10)
  5. If you're ranged, work the brush and autoattack the enemy as much as possible Reply if you want me to elaborate
