Saying gg, thoughts?

I could just be archaic, but when I started online gaming it was in brood war. Saying gg was something the loser said first after a hard fought game. It was considered bm to gg before the person losing the match and it hasn't translated well moving to league of legends. Here you have games where opponents go 15/0 and eagerly say gg before they're even in your base and it's striking a few nerves with me. It's something I'm struggling with overcoming and I'm looking for advice as to how to not take this type of thing as bad manner considering it seems to be common practice here.

The mindset behind this is that it's bad enough that I sat through a game for 20 minutes waiting for the option to surrender after being down 5, 10, 15, whatever amount of kills in just one lane, I don't need someone telling me Hey! Good game! Had fun, sure was nice stomping your face into the mud!

Not sure if it's just a change in times, new generations, lack of understanding or whatever but it's frustrating none the less having been accustomed to a different 'honor code'. Been playing League for a really long time now, and this has always been something that's stuck with me and I haven't gotten over. Anyway, tips, advice, pointers or other people's thoughts on dealing with this kind of thing send them my way.

In league I would say its typically the opposite. The winner says gg to acknowledge the losing teams effort. But really its just like shaking hands at the end of a game.

I mean, if its a landslide win(15/0/5 Yasuo).... then gg is intended as an insult from my stand point. lol

If 2 teams are able to duke it out for more than 45 minutes and finally get a win because of strategy or a bad call from the opposite team then anyone could say gg in my opinion.

I have never seen anyone get upset upon saying GG at the end of the game. I don't see how anyone could. Saying it before the game over screams that you have either given up or are a cocky asshole.

To mee it is just like at the end of a little league baseball or also soccer game. Everyone goes and says good game and high fives.

I only like when people say GG when the Nexus is going down (or at least the Nexus turrets) and nobody is there to defend. Otherwise, it's either toxic or arrogant as hell.

Reading these responses I've come to realize something that I haven't considered in the past. I'm really grateful to those of you who took the time to post here because it's rather enlightening.

In starcraft you don't know when a game is over (unless your opponent makes you kill all their buildings) until the losing person says gg then leaves the game instantly resulting in a win for you. All interaction between the two players ends there unless the winner chooses to whisper the loser in the lobby after the match.

In league of legends the end of a game is very clear. The surrender notification pops up, or you kill the nexus and the game ends. Seeing it from this perspective makes much more sense. Those people saying gg in games where it wasn't a contest will still likely come off as pricks to me, but I can understand things much more clearly now.

Well i am not sure about other people but for me gg should only be used in 2 situations. 1 the game is over and both teams acknowledge the efforts of the other team. 2 you are on a loosing team and there is no possibility of coming back (meaning that surrender is mutually agreed upon with all teammates and you are again acknowledgeing the efforts of the teams) That isnt to say that some people will use it to be jerks. It is a double edged sword and can be positive or negative. i just try not to pay attention to people who say gg after litterally everything.
