We all have heard and used the Honor system..
We all think the honor system is dead, that it's useless, and quite frankly it is.
The problem with the honor system is that there is almost no incentive to use it, besides for a pointless badge. Without an incentive, players feel that there is no purpose. If there is an incentive(At the time the badges came out, as well as the summoner icon you could achieve), players would abuse the system to the max.
Should there be an incentive to use the honor system? Not at all.
The reason the honor system is useful, is for the reason of telling players what a good job they may have done in- game.
Here's an example: You're playing a sport, lets say soccer. You just started playing and you're the rookie of the team. You're in a game, the score is super close, next goal wins and time running out. You surprisingly make the goal and win the game. Now, after you've made the goal, the team congratulates you on what a spectacular job you did. That is exactly what the honor system is, congratulating people on what they may have done.
If a league player is cooperating super well with the team, would you not want to honor him? Or do you want him to think that it was all pointless and that your teammates didn't notice or appreciate it? Honoring a player is letting them know "hey, you did a good job, nice work!"
Honoring players will push for a greater and more fun player experience, it will push for a better community. it will as well give players more confidence in themselves.
We must make a push to honor people, if we all take the time to honor someone on their noticeable and awesome play, it will spread. "Like wildfire
"
tl;dr Honoring someone is as pointless as liking a photo on social media. Why do we do it? Because we like their spunk. Honoring will create a better game play experience for everyone.
