Why is normals mmr so bad?

So I was just in a normals game. Nothing out of the regular, some toxic people and such. But then i decide to look up H0tsawce (hes in my game) why is it that a silver 2 player is being matched up with diamond 1 ex master tier players. That doesn't make sense at all.

Ranked and Normals have separate MMRs, so it's entirely likely that high Elo players in Ranked have low Normals MMR because they might not play normal games very much.

Could be worse. Could have been a level 3 account that was doing it's first normal game ever going up against a plat 3 olaf main...I won.
