What does Lyte think about Rap culture?
Today was the first day I've heard about Lyte smites.![]()
First off, I am not a victim of a ban or a chat restriction.
Lyte says that the majority of people are not toxic and wouldn't agree with the toxic ways of racism, sexism, and harassment. That's not a direct quote. He says that the toxic player is the minority.
It seems contrary to what I go through in league. It seems the majority of matches, a negative remark is made after every mistake.
It also seems contrary to popular culture.
Eminem has a lot of fans. In the millions. Does this contradict what Lyte says? Each Eminem fan must be toxic. Because he raps about rape and killing children. That's a lot of toxic people. But do so many people play league that millions of people are still the minority?
I would like to know Lytes opinion on popular rap culture.
I want to know what he thinks of the pop music that is on the radio.
For example, I find any rapper that says he wants to have sex with my girlfriend or my wife to be very toxic. But it's still all very popular music on the radio. Does this contradict what he believes? How can so many people be calling in the radio stations asking to hear a song by Pit Bull if so many people weren't toxic?
Rap artists are very racy, suggestive, and offensive. Toxic on a grand scale. Uttering words like I want to **** your girl and kill you... etc... etc...
So this goes for Video Game developers in general. The thing rappers rap about, players get banned for. The Mortal Kombat 10 trailer features Whiz Kalifa. It would be very hypocritical if MK started banning players for being toxic.
I don't know if Mortal Kombat has the same problems with toxicity but It would be kind of weird for them to issue bans when morality isn't their core value.
I don't listen to music where a rapper just repeats the N word over and over. I'm assuming whiz isn't a musician with the most morals. So we would assume Whiz Kalifa is also toxic? Does that make the Mortal Kombat Developers toxic?
In fact I wonder if these musicians wouldn't be given any special treatment given their status.
Do you believe that if you are an Eminem fan you are in fact a toxic person? That is a lot of toxic people. I wouldn't say the minority. In fact Eminem encourages kids shooting up schools. That is toxic. If Eminem isn't seen as toxic then I believe people side with him because he is rich and famous. To believe that his music doesn't have an negative impact on people is to say that toxic players don't have a negative impact on gaming.
So it just struck me as odd that Lyte would say that toxicity is the minority when I believe otherwise.
So I guess my real question would be... Would Lyte Smite
and Perma-ban Eminem or Whiz Kalifa and all of their fans from life itself if he had the power?
