League of Legends Player Moderators

After seeing all of the different behaviors of players on League, I've noticed how chaotic it can become. Even with the report system, there are still stunningly high amounts of toxicity and negative behavior clouding League and ruining games for other players.

I've wondered about how different things would be if there were player moderators within the games to review the behavior of players within the game. It would help to have an extra opinion of another player's actions in a game considering some actions may be misinterpreted.

Having a player moderator would likely reduce the ongoing negativity that is generated in games. Troll players, disrespectful players, ect. Since players tend to ignore using the ignore feature or ignoring the abuse that happens in game, it would be good to have a player moderator to assist those players who are ignored and attacked.

There's more to it, but that's pretty much the idea in a nutshell.

Do you mean someone in game to help communication or someone in game to observe and punish?

This would have been a good idea if there wasn't a "Tribunal System" in place. Not to mention theres a "ignore button" ingame to help with harassers. On the flip side adding PMods in a supportive state is not a bad idea. You can have an added "feature" to individual accounts in the post game screen for a PMod to weigh in on the Tribunal Cases. Kinda like a personal opinion if the PMod was present that respective game. Also a mute button for the day or week or such for them to mute extreme cases would help alliviate "some" cases in the Tribunal that deal with muting individuals, although that would have to be monitored so not be abused.

How often are the reports to the Tribunal reviewed? I think the Player Mod idea would be great. We've all seen the pesky auto-lockers, who don't even call mid yet choose a Ziggs/Malzahar/etc. We've had the Jungler who won't gank your lane because you took that top lane spot before he did. Of course these aren't prevalent problems in teambuilder, but it sure would make things easier. Then of course there are the troll supports who turret dive OVER AND OVER AND OVER again just to feed the other team and anger yours. Toxicity is extremely common nowadays, even as a level 30 I see it just about every other game outside of ranked. Teamwork OP. If someone on your team is refusing to cooperate, then the ignore button is not going to fix that. However if we had moderators hand-picked by RIOT, it would be like the police of LoL. Of course there is no way of completely eradicating the problem of toxicity, but I believe this would be a great start.

Could be bad idea, since someone could be a friend of someone or something like that to be abused easily.

I'd rather leave it in riots hand than this by a long shot.

No matter what, there will always be trolls, ragers, and disrespectful players. So there is no real point to giving out unnecessary power to random/respectful players. That would require Riot to do more by making a system for them to use and monitoring it to make sure no one abuses their power. And in the end of the day, all it does is maybe mute someone a day or two earlier than the tribunal would have done so. In the extreme cases, the tribunal will handle them faster due to the increased number of reports.

If you want to really help silence/ban the people who really deserve it, just report them at the end of the game. Tribunal will handle them in a timely manner, maybe not perfect, but its better than the risk of giving someone the ability to instantly mute every player that they see for a couple days before they get their power removed.

The only people who really deserve this power are Rioters, and they probably can do this, or at least speed up the process already. Riot can trust their employees to not abuse any powers, otherwise they get fired. So unless Riot pays someone, I don't think they would trust anyone with those powers.

Maybe give some people who are hand selected more of a value on their reports, but I think a concept like this already exists in the fact that misreporting enough people makes the tribunal's confidence in you lower.

It is really a difficult thing have to bite your tongue on, it sucks getting lots of games with rude players, but do the benefits of Player Mods outweigh the risk? In my opinion, I think not. But I respect your good intentions.
