WTFast and League Youtubers
Oh boy, better laugh all my way to the bank.

5 cent about WTFast:
Did you ever hear about the so called "Firewall bug"? I suffered from it. Selecting a champ, game about to start... black screen... can't connect -.-
Gave a message that it might be the firewall blocking the connection. I had no firewall.
That happened randomly about once a week. Some reading pointed to a problem somewhere between provider and Riot, the anarchic borderlands where nobody is responsible and everybody is a pioneer...
Anyway: WTFast could bypass the problem. Rerouting in itself was helpful... BUT that particular "optimized" route was terrible. It established a connection, yes. A very laggy connection though: multiple guaranteed mini dc's per game. Awful yet no leave at least. Who'd want an involuntary leave per week?
Fortunately the "Firewall bug" (named after the incorrect error message) died out apparently. Well timed actually: my WTFast trial ended :P
Won't ever use WTFast again unless I'm forcefed software. To be fair: it seems to work for some people. I read that in provider forums, in topics related to that particular bug - I doubt they'd fake that kind of "review".
Every league video ever IS SPOnsEREd bY WtFaST. Lol I would subscribe if I had a youtube account.
Some ISP's (Thank you TPG), do a shipful job of routing, adding 200+ ping to what is otherwise a superfast connection.
Using WTFast alleviated said ping.
Of course, 99.9% of users won't be having this issue and thus be paying for something that won't help them, but it's not complete snake oil.
I tried WTFast once after seeing it time and time again on all the youtubers I watch. It was a bot game when I turned it on and I couldn't connect to the game. From there I turned it off, finished the game and uninstalled WTFast immediately after.
Love your videos buddy, keep up the good work. Looking forward to a new one after Riot gives us an update to their "awesome new servers" at the end of the month.
As a fellow Canadian, I feel your pain.
As a computer repair technician I can tell you that I see computers come in constantly with this software, and most major anti-malware/spyware programs will flag WTFast or flat out remove it without asking. It is a sketchy program. I used it a while ago and noticed my ping DID indeed get a bit better, however it began spiking out of control or outright disconnecting me. Good video, sorry le ebin reddit circlejerking mods removed your threads. I bet lolgen wouldnt :^)
Gnarsies I love ur voice you are cool can I friend u omg
I'm going to copy some of this from the reply I left on the YouTube video, but will add more here.
I'll admit, I used to use it. Last year I was having serious packet loss issues every time I tried to play a League game. Every few minutes, I'd freeze up for a few seconds, usually during teamfights. I ran a few traceroutes, and saw that my connection to the Riot servers was really bad. The average totals of the traceroute tests had me losing about 80 out of 100 packets. I'm not exaggerating there, it was awful. I actually stopped playing for about a week, simply because I wasn't having fun and I didn't want to be a liability to my team. I read on the Boards that WTFast would help, so I tried it. At that time, it actually seemed to work, and it even lowered my ping from my normal 120-140 to around 80-90. I used it for a while, but within the past few months, I noticed that even without WTFast running, my ping was lower than it had been (90-100 most games) and I wasn't getting packet loss. The connection was actually a bit smoother without it, with higher overall ping, but fewer random spikes. I unsubscribed, and have been fine ever since. A few days ago, I got the E-mail from WTFast and I'm really glad I'm not supporting them anymore. They seemed a bit sketchy from the start, and after seeing that they tried to bribe users (myself included) I want nothing to do with them.
They do work in some cases, but most people are probably better off not using WTFast. It will only help if you've got a weird connection to the Riot servers (I'm on the East Coast so it did lower my ping slightly), and with the supposed "North American Roadmap" thing that Riot is developing, things should hopefully be better.
Don't know how that stuff works, but if they had dedicated networks worldwide, then they are not using the proper advertising, in fact it would be so dumb not to brag about that. So I guess the software doesn't do something significant..
I got 15 ping less using wtfast so it does work, plus my connection was more stable while I was using it, but the trial ended, and I have no intention of paying monthly to have it, maybe a one time fee but this nope
