"Supports" in lower Elo

I personally was a support main ever since I started playing about a year and a quarter ago. When I played support back in S5, what I would see is mainly a lot of actual supports like Braum, Naut, Lulu, etc. Now when I ever go into a game, I usually see people going things like Teemo, full AP Sona, and it really bothers me. The worst part is these guys don't even get a support item most of the time much less a sight stone. Support has seem to kind of turned into who can build more damage and be a low key mid laner instead of who can protect their adc the best and place lots of wards. Keep in mind I am talking about low Elo like silver and bronze. I still play support traditionally and still love to play a more supportive way than a low key mid laner but hey just my preference. (Btw I was silver last season and I hate bronze. I don't even play much ranked anymore because of that)

People call this a tank meta but last season with the juggs was a true tank meta. This season people can build tanky and still do tons of damage so I call it a damage meta or burst meta. I completely agree with you, this burst meta is painful.

Please don't play Azir support, die 4 times in the first 8 mins of the game, and skip on building sightstone.

The reason for full AP Sona is Sona literally being garbage without going full AP. She needs a rework.

I really don't mind who is taken as support on my team so long as they:

Purchase a gold income item (and don't fight the ADC for CS)
Purchase Sightstone (and ward)

Aside from that, I don't really care much about who my team's support is so long as they are trying to win. I've actually had a couple good games with Katarina and Talon supports.

Yeah its the failure of the ADC that makes playing full supp in low ELO really hard way to go. its not only that whats the point of trying to save them if the enemy team is 4 assassins and a tank they will dive and kill them before you can get off a spell rotation. The other support players are just responding to the fact that their ADC is bad and their only way out is to get kills and carry from support.

If you notice your opponent doesn't have sight stone..... ask for ganks they wont see your teammates coming. Also your ADC is often not your actual carry sometimes its your top or mid laner or your jungler that's carrying the game. They are now who you are going to help them 2 v 5 the enemy team.

Playing traditional support involves out thinking your opponents, the tricky bit is getting people to listen to you...

The extremely low quality marksmen that low elo provides, creates this meta.

The role is being avoided in favor of other roles that can "carry" more. Pure supports aren't being used by the Fill players because there are simply better champions to influence the game. Even a pure tank class with build/rune/mastery to be as tanky as possible is unfavorable due to the potentially low/nonexistent amount of damage that marksman might have.

Criticizing the people who help keep the queues from becoming ten minutes long, isn't going to help. Especially when they aren't really the problem.

The people who were willing to play legit support in the past are increasingly going into revolt for a multitude of reasons.

When no one else is willing, full AD Talon ROFL support is what you get. Eventually the meta will have to change for everyone but pro teams.
