Making a club for my high school

Hey guys, I'm a high school student looking to create a League club for my high schools. However I can't just have one for playing games (nor do i intend it to be like that), and I need advice to convince the staff at my school on why a League club should be made! I have around 35+ people who I know play league at my school, and about half of them would join. Thanks!

I'd start a petition to gather some support. They're more likely to give you a club if there is a noteworthy amount of support for it.

I was one of the founders of an "esports club" at my high school back a few years ago so I can share some issues I had getting that passed through administration and possibly some advice to help you along.

1.) we had to change the name from "league of legends club" to "esports club" to be more inclusive of other interests to draw in more people, however you may not need to do this.

2.) If you want administration to pass it off, you NEED to clearly outline and explain the benefits of having this club. If they are going to back it and have it as an official school club, they will want to know what good it can bring to the school besides just seeing kids play some video games (which already has a negative stigma about it). When i went through this step with a few friends of mine we were able to explain how it brought together a very DIVERSE (key word here) group of students to achieve one common goal. Again, key word here is diverse. Any high school administrator will cream their pants at that word. Continue to explain why this is important in a high school and why this club could offer some students who don't fit in anywhere else a place that they can belong.

3.) Make sure you already have a sponsor lined up. This means get a teacher or staff member to back you and be willing to take on responsibility as the "adult" of the group. Likely they won't have to do much work at all, but it does help when you pitch the idea if you already have a teacher or two behind you.

If you have any other questions feel free to ask, and good luck to you on getting this started!
