Why hasn't League of Legends been ported to Linux yet?

I can't really think of many explanations as to why Riot hasn't decided to port League of Legends to Linux. Most Linux distributions are far more stable than Windows, and a lot of them more stable than Mac. The Linux population is ever growing, and more and more games are being developed for Linux now.

Sure, porting a game like this to Linux might be difficult, but it'd be seriously worth it in the long run. I can guarantee this is something that won't be bad for any part of the community.

The engine, if I remember correctly, is completely built off directX 9. If you have ever programmed with directx 9 then you will know it's not very friendly when trying to be abstract with it. A port would basically be rewriting the whole engine, which riot already stated they need to do, but I don't think would be worth it just for Linux users.

Considering the fact that Linux users can just emulate windows, it's probably not high on their list of priorities. While there is a growing number of Linux users, it's still a more niche OS (as in one only more advanced users have). Windows is used in pretty much any government or company owned computer, most schools, and pretty much most people who don't own a Mac.

When they have to worry about multiple servers (especially since the Japan server just launched) I would say catering to a fairly unsubstantial userbase is not that high of a priority to them. Hell, they don't even have a Mac version (it was in beta early on but they dropped support) so I don't know why they would support Linux.
