I remember seeing the thread before, I'll just say of you both sounded kind of hostile during the whole thing so I didn't but read too much of your arguments. But that's neither here nor there.
As for which one is better i remember one of you saying champion.gg is more useful because riot doesn't really ever use elos lower than plat to balance the game, which is kinda false ( Lee Sin Ult change a few months ago), so while they are rare they do happen.
Another point that was made was something about region, which seeing as tho all of our patches are the same it really shouldn't matter too much. while there are differences in how the game is played in different regions, they don't matter much in the grand scheme of things.
the main reason for the differences in play percentages and win-rates between the two sites is that champion.gg uses roles, lolking just takes straight up numbers. if you're looking for something specific, you're probably better off looking at champion.gg.
lets take a look at the 3 least played champions according to each site
lolking :
Champ.gg:
mid
mid
adc
what does this tell us?
simple, using the data from both sites I can say in any game there is a 0.7% chance you see Urgot, however, should you see Urgot, there is a 40% chance he will be top, a 30% chance he will be adc and a 20% chance of him being mid with a 10% chance of him being somewhere else (all rounded).
the next champion is Yorick in lolkings case, and morde when referring to champ.gg. Yorick's number is calculated by looking all games, and seeing how often he was picked (.09) meaning yorick is the second least played character in the game. Mordekaiser's is saying, this is the number of times (0.08) Mordekaiser was picked, and he was picked mid. this means Mordekaiser mid is the second least played thing in the game.
okay, but we were talking about winrates
when you look at lolking you see that
has the top win-rate @54.9% atm. but, on champ.gg you see
top, sits at a 55.56% win-rate. lolkings rating isn't solely for adc mf, this includes mid, jungle or whatever else people can think of.
whats your point? why does this matter?
lolking gives you numbers, and says "this is the champion with the highest win-rate in the game".
champ.gg takes the numbers and says "this champion's win-rate is this much in this role at this elo."
Get it? its all about context. Now, OP of the last thread wasn't particularly wrong for using lolking, as they we're making a point about trends not champion strength, which is another thing all together
Imo this argument was kind of moot because of that last detail i pointed out, but whatever. sorry for the long post, i hope this helps clear things up for ya

*urgot mid and morde mid sit at around the same play rate, the differences come from the ban rate here.
**also, i used playrates here to show what the major differences was with the sites. I know that wasnt the original argument.
