A Tip Rarely Mentioned: CC Mitigation

#I almost never see something like this mentioned in detail here on boards, so I felt the need to make a more extended explanation of what CC mitigation is, how to use it, and why you should use it.

CC mitigation is a concept that uses your champion's abilities to reduce or fully stop incoming damage from enemy champions during the period you are CC'ed. I know that sounds vague, but I'm going to go into a bit more detail with how and what abilities to use.

Movement Abilities https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A0CHMXaLEwA&feature=youtu.be&t=1m36s

There are an array of abilities in LoL that will not be interrupted by things like roots and stuns when cast as movement. It comes down to general knowledge of knowing which one's fulfill this criteria, so I would make sure you know the ins and outs of your main before trying it. The idea is to cast your uninterruptible movement ability just before the CC would hit your champion, allowing your champion to travel the length of your movement during the length of the CC, removing the effectiveness of the CC.

Same concept, different ability. In the video I'm using I actually use both movement and CC, but focus on the CC for this example. By casting a CC ability at roughly the same time as your opponent, you stop the damage that they would do to you during the time you are CC'ed (because they also are). This is very useful for when you're trying to escape a skirmish or fight and don't intend to CC them to do damage, but only to stop the damage they do to you.

Overriding Abilities https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uA5AWjRPbYQ&feature=youtu.be&t=9s https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hI--_OBEHhw&feature=youtu.be&t=50s

This example, although mainly used with blinks (Kassidin's R, Ezreal's E), can be used with a variety of abilities. The idea is to use an ability whose cast overrides the effect of the enemy CC, and can be used usually with both root/stun CC's and displacement CC's. Like the other methods, your aim is to cast your ability right before being hit by the enemy CC. Another funny example of this is abilities like Nautilus's or Thresh's hook in relation to Poppy Ult.

Stealth Abilities Sorry guys, but I can't find a video example for this one as of right now, so stretch your imagination for me. The idea of mitigation via stealth is a little more specific for the enemy champion in question, but is still useful. Because I use Kha'Zix as my main, he will be my example. The idea of stealth mitigating is to use your stealth ability, in this case Kha'Zix R, either right before a CC or during it if it is a root so that champions who have targeted damage cannot target your champion during some or all of the CC. This is extremely useful for things like ADC aa's or other targeted abilities.

#So for those of you who are wondering what types of tricks higher ELO players naturally use to their advantage to better utilize champions and abilities, here's a little insight for some things that are glossed over and not mentioned. Hope this helps!

Lol that poppy naut hook looks so silly lol. It is an interesting mechanic, you still take damage though.
