It might sound like some redundant advice but once in a while, do remember to clean your ears at least a little bit. If there's a large build-up of ear wax in your ear, sometimes it can just end up hardening and you lose hearing in that ear, which is a more common problem than some people may realize.

Losing hearing in one ear wasn't actually that bad for me, but I had to have the ear wax forcibly removed with water. And that may not sound bad, but having a high pressure jet of water squirted directly into your eardrums kind of hurts. And I know someone who had to get it removed with an ear pick, so I guess I got lucky :|

I'm sure a lot of you are aware though, but don't use q-tips when trying to prevent that kind of thing from happening because chances are you'll just push earwax further into your ear and cause the problem yourself. If you're getting to that stage (and trust me, you'll know) you can buy ear drops from the local chemist.

This guy's had it for about 10 years apparently. Screenshot for proof. http://i.imgur.com/VSU5hSO.png Not a great screenshot, and not too sure why he hasn't done anything about it, but still.

Clean your ears kids.

I don't know why, but if I ever get excess ear wax (though I usually always clean it) it falls to the bottom of the inside of my earone and I can feel it happen.

I've had it happen, if it doesn't clear up quickly go to your doctor. If you poke at it too much you can end up getting your ear infected and that is a whole other issue. Also I will say that the so called high pressure water on your eardrum is not as painful as OP makes it out to be. They treat with a mixture of warm water and hydrogenperoxide in a needless syringe and it is actually rather soothing. As long as we are on the subject of ear hygiene, don't forget to periodically wipe down your headset.
