@Riot - What Should I Do?

This is my first post on these forums so... apologies in advance if I'm doing something really unconventional. :(

Anyway, I've been bouncing between potential career paths for awhile now, and it occurred to me that I'd really like to work at Riot. I've only been playing League of Legends for about a year, but in that time I've become pretty much obsessed with the game. I'm not great at it yet, but I love the champions (I put on a Draven cosplay not too long ago) and the gameplay always engages me. I love League of Legends, and I really want to have a hand in developing it.

That's a while down the road though. Right now I'm studying software engineering at a university and I'm at a point in my life where I need to make some decisions. I originally started college as a psychology major, but I switched after taking an intro-level programming class. Our final project was a simple 2D shooting game programed in Python. After I saw what I could do with the code, I suddenly had a crap ton of ideas of what I could do. I was doing some extra honors stuff with the class so I had to somehow go above and beyond with the project. The professor only required a power up mechanic, but I wanted to do more. So I made the circle-bullets into lasers, and I gave the turret a track to run on. The power up was flashy and made the turret shoot a wide anime-style energy blast that vaporized targets on contact. I even put together an original tune + sound effects, level systems, and splash screens. I spent hours trying to figure out how I could get the code to do what I wanted it to do, and even though it was sometimes incredibly frustrating, when I solved the last bug and clicked run I was giddy with excitement.

The final game was kind of crap compared to a commercial 2D game, but for a first-year project it was kick-a**. After learning that a software engineer could make around $80,000 a year, I decided to switch majors.

Now I've come to something of a turning point. I did not enjoy last semester very much (I got a lot of student teachers that I didn't like) and I've become increasingly aware of the huge sums of loaned money I'm shoveling into this degree. I don't actually have a clear picture of what kind of job I'm going to get out of it. And while I really enjoyed putting together my own game, I don't want to land an office job designing software that I don't really care about.

I don't want to see my code as a document, but as an instrument. I get my kicks from creativity and though I can sit down and code all day if I have to, but it's the final product that drives me. I'm looking into a career at Riot because LoL is something I'm passionate about, but somehow with this degree I don't see myself doing anything but bug-fixing. To anyone at Riot, what sort of skills should I be learning to have a creative impact on the job? And what sort of positions should I be applying for?

(I'm looking at technical game designer, but my analytical skills would definitely need improvement.)

tl dr: I'd love to work at Riot, but with a degree in software, what kind of job can I get that also allows me to be creative? What should I be learning?
