Making a Smurf

How do?

I need to make a smurf so I can play with my friends (who aren't even Lv 30 yet) and get matchups that don't result in their guaranteed loss. The only friend I have that's ranked is bronze, and I'm a silver, so even the guy that's closest to my MMR would really appreciate it.

Do you need to use an alternate e-mail? How would you recommend getting over the initial "poor" bump where I don't have champions or runes? Is it worth it to get the starter pack? Even if it's an account I might never legitimately use for ranked smurfing?
