From Bronze to Platinum: My personal experience

Hello summoners! Sorry if my english isn't perfect. I wanted to take a momet to talk about my experience in playing this game almost exclusively in ranked mode, what i think in general of ranking up, and maybe i can help some of you too who knows ^^.

INTRODUCTION: I started playing LoL more or less in 2012, but i mainly spent 2012 leveling up to 30 and taking pauses here and there. I started to play ALOT in 2013 and that's also when i started rankiing. It's safe to say that since season 3 i'm playing this game almost nonstop, and i'm pretty much always doing rankeds (unless i want to relax with an aram, or playing with some friends). Why? I know for a fact that many people do not like rankeds, mainly because you get in a pressure situation most of times, and you can get really angry if you are not used to how rankeds work. I just think that the most fun part of this game it's really that one. Playing just for playing is not that good for me, i want something to play for. In this case is getting better and better, and ultimately getting higher and higher in the ranks.

Season 3 - BRONZE DAYS

So after i reached lvl 30 i immediatly started to do placement matches. I don't recall how it went, i think i won 2 out of 5. Nevertheless i was placed in bronze 4. SO yeah quite low, but it's not like i was mad about it, since i knew i sucked, and i had to start from low grounds. So we are talking about a time when your knowledge of this game is pretty much 0. I'm not joking saying that i didn't know at all what roles were supposed to mean, or that junglers even existed. I knew simply nothing at all and i had to leanr it "on my skin" losing so many matches. In bronze you'll find players of all types some good, some bad, but overall in the big picture of things starting from bronze was important to learn the basics aspects of the game and getting used to the roles, starting to buy champions that you like in those roles and so on. And about the so called "Elo Hell", i can definetly say in my opinion that it kinda exist. The fact is that in bronze there are so many random factors to each game (since most players are just really newbies) that it tends to feel out of your control. That's why you'll see in bronze even players that should maybe be silver. So that's what i saw. In the end i wanted to get better and as time passed i got used to the game systems and items, and even if i had few champs to work with i had fun. It was very very hard but i managed to get silver by the end of the season (it was season 3).

Season 4 - SILVER DAYS: Holy hell. Silver was painful honestly. When season 4 came i was ready and excited to try to get gold. It wasn't nearly as easy as i thought. Also because i started back from bronze 2 at the start of the season, and getting again silver THEN gold wasn't really super fun. It's also about this time where i managed to own all champions in the game (all by IP only 3-4 with RP) In silver i kinda fell in love with supports champions, mainly because those were the ones that controlled the map the most with the junglers, and i loved the feeling of helping others. But maining support in silver is like asking for hell on earth. This is probably because like Bronze, anything goes here. You'll see people good enough to be gold, and people that should be back at bronze. As support you have decent impact on the game, but you can't carry a game (also because in silver your mechanics are kinda meh). I started to play mor econsistently top-jungle and supports to help me going on. It definetly helped, and also helped the fact that i was in a ranked team playing 5v5 in a very serious way, with people much bette rthen me ^^, i learned a lot there. WHat happened in the end of the season exceeded all my expectations as i managed to get gold 3.

Season 5 - GOLD DAYS

In season 5 was the first seasonn where i started feeling really confortable about my skill level and i was ready to try to fulfill my dream of 2 years ago of getting bettr and better. Being able to reach platinum was kinda a dream back then. Holy cow it was hard. Placement matches: i won 3 out of 5 and i get placed in silver 3 or 4. Like what? from gold 3 to silver 3? i was pissed off so much.... Especially because i had to climb up like 10 divisions to get patinum. But like i said i felt good, and in like 1-2 months i was back at gold 3.

I finally got gold 2 at some point. This damn gold 2 was my nightmare for most part of 2015. No matter what, no matter how hard i tried i just couldn't go above gold 2. I was really frustrated, not only because i play a lot and i saw no results, but laso because i was kinda near to plat. I kept playing anyway, but for 4-5 months i was stucked completely in gold 2. I went up and down a bit, but in the end i was always there. I didn't know what to do and i kinda felt that was my skill ceiling. Wich was really sad to be honest. I still played mostly support, top and jungle, in this order. I thought the only thing that could shake up things was trying to learn new champions quickly. For some weird reaso i ended up playing a TON of Soraka (mind you this is before the new masteries and when she became op as fck) I finally saw the light with soraka, as my horned lady inflated my winrate by a ton, i was FINALLY able to get gold 1. I really didn't want to go back from there, and luckily i didn't have to, because Soraka got me plat well before the end of the season. needless to say i was happy as a happy elf Teemo, and once i reached plat 5 i took a bit of a stop from rankeds, i was just too much burnt out.

CONCLUSION - Future ???

When preseason came i wanted to return to do some rankeds (mainly trying to get a higher MMR for season 6). It went okay as right now i am almost plat 3. I'm aleady excited for season 6, but i know that getting diamond is almost impossible. I'll try to get better no matter what anyway

Always nice to hear people's stories on how they climbed. Hopefully I'll be able to write a similar story by the end of season 6.

bronze and plats not that far off in mmr you dont really need a guide to get a tiny bit higher just get good at the basics and play non mechanically intensive champions.
