Why did Triforce Lucian fall off?

I remember back when people were first picking up Lucian as an ADC it was almost mandatory to build Triforce first since it gave him so much added burst. Since then (probably since around the ADC itemization changes?) IE rush into Shiv has become much more popular. I was just wondering why Triforce is so out of favour now. Yes Lucian got nerfed and the itemization changed, but Triforce didn't change too much and the main reason for building Triforce (adding the Sheen proc to his passive) still exists. Why not Triforce? item 3078 item 3078 item 3078 item 3078 item 3078 item 3078 item 3078 item 3078

It has to do with the nature of tank meta. If you just randomly spam out your spell for triforce procs your going to be vulnerable. Holding your dash and W for kitting is more important now than it was before. The standard AA build is better than caster for this reason.

Because people forgot about it along with the Lucian hype.

There are three primary ADCs, and Lucian isn't even one of them.

Graves

Corki

Jinx

That it all.

Lucian has become more of a lategame champ(not hypercarry class, but mid-late game) with some of the changes to him and the shifts in the meta, so building for an early game powerspike that doesn't scale well is not as ideal.

That isn't to say it couldn't work, you'd just better make sure that midgame spike PAYS OFF or else the trade you're making probably isn't worth it.

I'd say it's the changes he got a while back.

Since his range is shorter, he's more likely to need to stay in the fight. Having stronger sustained damage instead of the burst from TF is better. He's also an AD caster ADC. So high AD benefits him greatly. TF was never a "must have" on him. But it was never a bad option. It was just a difference in playstyle.

Only reason it was even good was because it synergized with his passive for extra burst. Most ADC's that get it, get it because they can spam an ability to constantly proc it. Lucian doesn't really do this. I can't actually turn it into sustained damage the same way. He got it for the burst, which he could also get from building more AD. And that AD would also mean more sustained damage.

Without that extra range to preform that burst, the reward isn't really there anymore.
