PSA: It's Not Black And White
TL;DR
There are 3 sides to every argument. Your opinion, their opinion and then the cold hard facts.
Explanation:
Just because you are partially right, doesn't make the other person wholly wrong. Nobody is perfect, therefore there is always a point that can be refuted in every argument. Just because someone has a more concise point and can clearly word their point, doesn't mean the person who struggles gathering his thoughts and putting them in a more optimal understanding standpoint doesn't also have a valid point.
EG: If a bronze player complains about Garen and a Diamond player says he's fine, that doesn't make either one necessarily wrong. There IS a problem with Garen. He's binary as hell which makes his play style toxic. He's either very stompy or just feeds. Being binary means he's easy to counter and very predictable, which makes him fine -- however, that also makes him a problem.
PS: the above example has nothing to do with me hating Garen or anything. Just simply an example.
So, when you get into an argument, instead of down voting people just because you disagree with them, how about you think about their perspective? Down voting someone gives a negative impression of them that might not necessarily be true. Maybe that person does struggle or find something negative or toxic, or find it fine. You shouldn't belittle someone because they have a different opinion from you.
Didn't want to have a very long post speaking about something as simple and common sense as this. Just want to remind everyone to be respectful in posts and try not to call people out. Down voting is a psychological warfare that gives people the impression of authority and power. Just because you down vote someone doesn't make them wrong.
Try to keep the boards clean, respectful and have intelligent discussions. Arguments are a part of human nature and there is nothing wrong with HEALTHY disagreements. If someone has problems putting words to their thoughts, try to help them out a bit more. It may not be an English class, but we can all still learn here. Remember when our parents thought that playing games were damaging to our education? Lets show them that we can also learn from games.
