I'm just not a good player

I've been playing League since around season 2. I started taking it serious around S4 and S4 S5 and S6 i've just hung around silver. My friends are all plat and some are diamond that I started playing this game with so now I play alone mostly but for some reason I just do not improve. I dont rage I dont flame I usually just stay quiet and mute those who do. I'm just not a good player and its started to weigh me down. Last month I went on a streak where i won 25 games and lost 2 and climbed alot. Now its just the opposite with my performance being extremely poor in all of it. I dont like to blame others I always blame my self because I am a believer that if I was good enough I would carry my self in these games. I'm where I belong in ranked I just seem to be very stagnant in where I am and I just do not know how to improve at the game anymore. I really like this game I've recently quit it just because I'm really good at FPS games for whatever odd reason. However, I'm back im drawn to a challenge and this game is a challenge to me. Any feedback on how some of you guys got better at the game is appreciated. Thanks

p.s. sorry for typos wrote this out in a hurry during que

Also looking at your stats you probably play too many champions in ranked and maybe too many roles.

It looks like your Lucian, Darius, and Malphite are your mains and you are OK with all of them. Your Amumu looks good, but he is very dependent on having a competent team.

In general, in Silver, I think it is harder to climb from the bot lane. Not saying it can't be done, just that the bot lane has too many variables and is wildly inconsistent. You have two other people trying to kill you and a jungler sometimes coming down. If your support isn't that good you will probably lose lane and if you are supporting and your ADC isn't that good you will lose lane as well.

As an ADC, you are also largely dependent on your team for protection and silver players kind of don't do that well.

They won't protect the ADC at critical times, they stay in lane forever, and will die chasing kills. This all makes it harder to group and take objectives and for you to stay alive if you are ADC.

Your lucian stats are good, but my guess is your wins and losses follow two routes when you are ADC:

  1. You and your support steam roll the bot lane and you accumulate a lot of kills, winning pretty handily or
  2. You and your support GET steam rolled and you and he/she die A LOT losing by a large margin.

People in silver don't know how to play from behind very well and the lanes can get out of hand very quickly. This also makes the division more susceptible for comebacks, if your team is coordinated. Silver players often make enough mistakes in game after getting a lead to lose it.

You should pick 2 roles you want to play almost exclusively. One of those two roles should be your "main" and you should play that one more often than the other.

And then you should have a back-up role, if you need to swap with someone in champion select.

The other two roles you should never play in ranked. Just practice them in normals and dodge if you get those roles.

I will suggest try avoiding the bot lane, but if you want to continue playing it, you should pick up support as well to fully understand bot lane dynamics. I think most ADC only players do not understand the support role very well and this is frequently reflected in their attitudes and treatment of their support.

By having knowledge of both roles, you will improve as a player. It is also why I think Top mains should learn mid and vice versa.

You definitely need to place more wards and focus more on CS. There are games where you placed 1-2 wards in 30+ minutes, and had 3 cs/m. Ask your friends in plat and diamond to skirm and see if they have any suggestions on what you could improve on, be it skill shots, champion knowledge, overextending, whatever. Play some normals with them as well so they can see your positioning in team fights, if you know when to and when not to play aggressively, how your shot calling is, how your map awareness is, if you're picking the right target during team fights, and so on.

Macro knowledge is everything. Constantly keep enemy map position on your mind and ward when they're all accountant for. Control a quadrant and use pinks more. Epic outplays, although boss, doesn't win games so play conservatively until you know you can definitely out trade. Maximize your burst without going all in until you can guarantee the kill or force them back but don't get heal baited... :P

from looking at your match history you dont cs well that is something you should work on also try pressuring your advantage when you get one in lane. Your warding could also be a lot better

Irelia is a really good choice because she can split push pretty well with her ult and use her Q to gap-close and kill squishy targets. Her builds vary, but typically she builds one or two damage items and then full-tank.

Knowing when she hits her power spikes is key. Good Irelia's also freeze waves when they have their spike, zone the opposing laner off farm, gap close, stun, and then ult.

She is also easy to gank for, so a lot of junglers will help you out.

Falling behind with her stinks though because you will have to make hard decisions with her itemization path. She needs triforce to be relevant, but if you fall behind you typically have to start building tanky.

She is banned pretty frequently now, but I think that when her passive is nerfed she will not get banned as much.

Good luck in your climb!

Hey OP,

I read something significant in your opening post.

You mentioned that you don't rage, flame and just mute. Usually this behaviour is telling of a non-assertive passive player, you have to get mad and start raging because only then can you start severely analysing everything that is wrong. Severe frustration is a great learning tool for improvement not just in video games but in a lot of aspects of life. Of course, there are also many people who just process and adapt amazingly.

I am led to believe that you simply aren't aggressive enough

Focus on improving on a few select champs. Practice new champs outside of ranked.
