Ranked 5v5 Solo/Duo Queue Question

How exactly are teams chosen for ranked 5v5 solo/duo queue? I am by no means a top tier league player, but I find it very hard to believe that I manage to get an afker, or someone extremely toxic, or overall just bad players on my team a majority of the time. My lane is usually the only lane that doesn't feed or afk. Is there anything that can be done to balance teams out a little more, or will it continue to be "random" and screw me over repeatedly?
