I was never baby'd through league, I was obviously bad at the start of the game and none of my friends wanted to take the time to explain the game to me so I went a really long time playing alone, slowly but surely learning how to play league.
Do you think babying someone is the best idea or just letting them figure it out for themselves, or some kind of middle ground, and don't be afraid to be descriptive.
Also, any other ways are appreciated.
It really depends on the person. Some people need to experience being rek'd(sai) hard af to learn from it, and others can easily pick up on things with just simple explanations. I don't think you should baby someone. It's best to just explain as you go but still let them test out other things and fail a bit to learn. I know some people have trouble explaining concepts to those who are kind of the "fuck it im yolo-ing this shit" kind of person and they instead will challenge them to 1v1 and kick their asses to help them realize mistakes. I know how you feel: I was SOO bad at league when I first started because nobody took the time to tell me much and whenever I asked they got pissed and flamed me lololol. I guess it took a lot of work to get to where I am but by experiencing the effects that come from a bad choice, I learn a lot from it and actually remember. It's good to give small tips to those who are struggling but don't have them rely on you heavily or leave them completely alone. (it's like when you support your adc--watch over them but don't follow them aroudn the entire game.)
I didn't have any friends to play league with so I played solo. Before I started playing league, I watched tons of videos on champions I liked to see what people would do and how they would build. It helped me a lot.
