Demoting after one loss at 0 lp

So I find it that every time I'm at 0 lp. I lose one game, I demote right away. Nearly everyone I know demotes at around 3 losses at 0 lp. But literally this happened to me over 10 times so far. I demote at 0 lp, with only one loss when I had 0 lp. Now my mmr isn't terrible, nor am I on huge losing streaks. So what's going on?

sounds like a conspiracy, Riot is out to get you!

Your MMR doesn't have to be abysmal to demote, just low enough for it to register that a lower bracket is reasonable. Say the threshold for silver 1 is 1400MMR, if you're at 1399, it's not unreasonable for you to drop after a single loss. Multiple losses might be because their MMR is ~1450 or something.

It is all dependent on your hidden MMR ( Match Making Rating ). If you were Silver 2 with Silver 1 MMR and at 0LP you can lose a few games before it demotes you. If you were Silver 2 with Silver 3 MMR then a single loss can demote you.

Having higher MMR than your rank is usually something that happens more often to people that do not have a lot of games played yet and are still in the process of having their rank match their MMR. Since you have 670 games it is pretty safe to say that your MMR and your rank are matched up. This means if you are at 0 LP you will drop because the losses caused your MMR to go under your rank. This also means if you win you'll get average LP gains.

My suggestion would be to take a break from ranked and spam about 200 normal games while actively trying to learn new stuff. Since your skill level and ranked level are the same your ranked games are going to feel like coin flips. If you grind up your skill level in normals and then returned to ranked you will climb easier with a lot less stress since then you will be better than your current rank.
