@Riot - Having to make a boards post explaining Project Crafting means you messed up
You had three posts official posts trying to explain this:
And yet, through out it all, people (myself included) are still extremely confused at what in the world all the parts and pieces are.
#From a greedy company perspective, Project Crafting looks to be a failure These official announcements should get us (consumers/cash dispensers) excited to throw money at the screen. That's what you want, right? But I feel myself losing the hype just reading these articles. I have to figure out if I need a Cache or a Core, an Augment or a Blueprint, or some other combination of things to get even a Summoner Icon that I'll likely forget about in two weeks. It's implied I've got to buy all of this useless garbage that I don't understand with RP. That turns me, prospective customer, away. Not the buying stuff with RP, but the thought of buying stuff with RP and not being sure what it even does.
When I buy a Skin, I know what I got. When I buy a Mystery Box, I know what I'm going to get when I open it (maybe not the specifics, but I know I'll get a Skin or a Champion, depending on the box type). That doesn't hold true for the Project Crafting. There's too much unknown and it's not sure what turns into what.
#How to fix this mess Well, the "simplified version" post isn't much better, but it's a start. The problem is it's not going to be seen by many people, as it's not advertised in the client.
I recommend you revisit the Hextech Crafting and Loot page for this. Notice how you guys spelled out exactly what each and every piece of the system was. You spelled out how to get everything (as "rewards", "for winning a game", or "purchase"). You also showed us what the features did with nice videos of the more complex features, making them easier to understand.
If Project Crafting had this approach (simple text + videos for harder parts), then it'd be far less confusing and I could see people getting excited for it, netting more sales.
