Can I get banned for :-

LeonDemonOfDeath·4/15/2015, 11:48:47 PM·1 votes·895 views

Telling allies what they should and should not be doing, What they have done right and what they have done wrong? Even if sometimes it is in caps? So hi guys, i'm just another player from this community who actually used to be pretty toxic, I took a good 6 month break from league and now I don't dare to insult allies. What I do instead is, well :-

  1. If they harass in any way, I will instantly mute and tell the team that "I muted so and so, you should too." so that we don't lose because everyone want's to be a keyboard warrior.
  2. I ping A LOT, and a lot of players do not listen to pings, it frustrates me but I simply tell them "JINX PLEASE LISTEN TO PINGS."
  3. If I constantly tell an ally to do something but they are not listening at all such as this:- "Vayne, please do not tunnel vision.", "Vayne, STOP tunnel visioning. Pay attention please.", "VAYNE, YOU HAVE BEEN CAUGHT OUT 3 TIMES FOR NOT LOOKING AT RIVER, STOP TUNNEL VISION PLEASE."
  4. "PLEASE BUY WARDS." "Lucian why don't you have so-so item? Please buy it." "Please play safer." "Please let's group now." "Cait, you wanted to group so PLEASE stop split pushing."

Is doing this a bannable offense? Since i'm using caps lock it feels like I could get banned for this or something, since I have gotten reported afterwards if an ally is salty and just saw me as annoying and not trying to win. It could be seen as annoying to people but I want to make sure if I can do this, because how else can I communicate with allies? (Also, sorry i'm an adc main and just used names that popped to my mind)

Even if you're right, you can still be annoying. You should make an effort to not make that compromise, and be right while not being annoying. If someone refuses to listen and you keep telling them, you're probably just being a nuisance to the rest of the team.

While your intentions may be for the best, you still have some of your resentment showing in your words.

The examples you gave are all very subtly aggressive or accusing in nature, which may not incline your teammates to work with you. Notice the emphasis you have with "You wanted to group", and "Why don't you have that item?" This will invariably encourage people to become defensive or uncooperative. Try to be more neutral in your tone. While you may think that this does not help, I have not had many issues sooner or later corralling teammates (playing from season 2 and from Bronze through low Diamond).

To answer your question, no, you probably won't get banned just for that. But do try to be a little more lax.

Don't bother telling people you muted them. Just do it. The only time you should tell others to mute is if they're starting to respond with irritation.

Acceptable: "Mute him and let's win this." Possibly inflammatory: "Everyone mute this guy."

  1. I ping A LOT, and a lot of players do not listen to pings, it frustrates me but I simply tell them "JINX PLEASE LISTEN TO PINGS."

No need for caps. A lot of people get irritated by full caps comments and will intentionally ignore them.

That's really awkwardly worded, and might confuse people. Yelling at someone who doesn't understand what you're saying will frustrate him. Better: "Vayne, they keep sneaking up on you from the river. Don't forget to check the minimap."

  1. "PLEASE BUY WARDS." "Lucian why don't you have so-so item? Please buy it." "Please play safer." "Please let's group now." "Cait, you wanted to group so PLEASE stop split pushing."

Again, the ALL CAPS thing can make people ignore you. Better: "Don't forget to use those ward trinkets. Our support can't light up the entire map alone."

"Why" is also one of the common triggers for rage in this game. It comes across as questioning someone's understanding, because you obviously think his build is "wrong." Better: "Lucian, you might do more damage with ____."

The comment toward Cait is obviously showing frustration with her, which is just asking for some in return. Better: "Cait, we're ready to group up like you asked. Let's do this."

Other than telling people to mute someone on your team, I wouldn't say these are actionable (and even the mute thing isn't so bad unless the chat logs show it as you ganging up on someone). They are definitely going to trigger some people's defensiveness.

I've been reported because my adc blamed me for her death and I told her no way, it was her fault for not recalling when I did. Her duo agreed that I was in the wrong. I was also reported because I asked Zed that if he wasn't going to follow his mid when she roamed, at least push the turret and stop dancing around the minions.

That said, I'm on the fence about how you've worded your advice. People tend to get offended at everything (see above. I tend to be as nice as I possibly can when I give advice, and it still blows up in my face). Don't use capslock if you can help it. It's really annoying.

I'll add that I'll tell people I've muted them, but only so they no longer waste time trying to type to me. I've watched people sit idle by their turret long after I've muted them, and I can only assume they're still trying to communicate with me.

People hate being told what to do. Also, most people will recognize their mistakes when they do it. We're only human it's perfectly normal. Nobody wants to get told by someone something frustrating they just experienced.

Yes reportable. Constant pings is spam and all u are doing is missing of a player. Constantly telling strangers how to build and questioning all the time can also puss prop off. What u need to is learn is moderation.

Lot's of comments and I see where this is going. Very nice responses. I use all caps because I find people ignoring my comments if I put them normally but okay I won't use all caps. The muting thing is not telling the person that I muted them, but telling my allies so they do not keep retaliating with the flamer. I don't see why players can't just take criticism? It's not a bad thing, some people love it. It helps people realize their mistake, and some people keep doing the same thing over and over so telling them what to do should stop them. The ping are not spam. Pings are a form of communication. Warning an ally, pinging objectives, telling someone to help or back off. Why do players make a big deal of such things? But I do understand your comments.
