Items generalized titles

So i recently looked over the items for say ability power items and they tend to be oriented towards magic right but what about champs like and and they seem to be more tech oriented that rely on their abilities hence the ability power title on them but why under items are they considered like magical and the same goes for physical damage items why is it generalized in the item shop as offensive instead of just attack damage or ability power just a thought after looking at it
