Raka is probably the most unfun champ to play against.

Soraka can be easily countered if you pick someone with a longer-ranged poke that's not a skillshot, or a skill that jumps from one target to another. Perfect example in this meta: Lux Lux!

Lux's Q hits one target, and then passes through it to barrier the one behind it, stunning them both. Follow up with an auto and a W shield and you can get away with a strong poke on both of them thanks to Lux's passive, bonus damage to an auto after being marked. Lux can also throw out her e to combo twice the damage in a little over two seconds - half that if you're experienced. Q - auto - E - auto with a W in there somewhere.

If Lux is really not your gal, Velkoz Vel'koz is honestly an underrated counter to Soraka. Unlike Lux, Vel'koz has a very low cast-time on his kit and is pretty light on his not-feet, so you won't have to worry about getting stuck in Raka's Starcall. You can cut straight through any amount of security she has with the entirety of your kit, while being able to stay relevant on the rest of the map, with special thanks to the true damage on your ulti. Your Q can give you a tactical advantage, but what I'd really pick him for against Raka is your E and your W that cut through minions and champions to stack a 3-hit bonus-damage passive. There's room to grow with this playstyle too - you can learn to herd people around your lane and guide them right into your spells. That's just what a Vel'koz does - manipulation and mindgames - and it's great against a Soraka.

If you're used to playing a lot of Yasuo, Vel'Koz might be a good jump to make for you. He's easier to farm with than other mages too; strong waveclear and strong autos. Just watch for his mana costs and learn to auto quickly on him.

I'm sure there are other champions out there too, but it's 5:30am and I can't think of more rn.

While you're at it, you will definitely want your adc or YOU to build something with Grevious Wounds. Hell - why not both? Have your ADC build up from item 3123 Executioner's Calling, and you should probably build a item 3165 Morellonomicon. This item actually can't hurt you in any role, even as a support, since it gives you +20% CDR, a whopping +100 AP, +400 mana, and a fun passive that returns 20% of your mana after you've finally b!tchslapped her into the dirt.

Both of those champions can be comfortably played support as strong poke-CC lane bullies, if you're really concerned about keeping her down, and still come out as strong AP champions late-game. I usually find myself going item 3301 Coin - item 2302 Oasis just so I can keep spamming my pokes and raking in the gold for the expensive AP items later. Don't be tempted by item 2301 Watcher's +25 AP and 2g-per-10. It's never panned out for me; just not enough gold in time, it was always the equivalent of trading a luden's for a glorified Sightstone. It's the difference of thousands of lost gold... lost games at 40 minutes with it and maybe half an item built as opposed to three full items PLUS an Oasis. As long as you're always near creeps - which you should be the majority of the time, this is League after all, basically Farming Simulator with action scenes - you'll always make more gold that you will need.

Hope this was of some help to you, even if it's long. Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas, Summoner!
