West Coast tears make me so happy right now.

With the announcement that Riot is going to centralize the NA server and west coast people are raging about how terrible it is that their ping might go over 50 and how it will be "unplayable" with ping that high. I sit at like 110-120 most games, and I still play the game.

So... get over yourselves. The ping distribution will be a lot more equal across NA with the upcoming change of the server location, and west coasters who are convinced that the world is ending should really just get over themselves.

... Why would anyone complain about that?

Honestly, if any of us West-coasters are seriously upset about the battlefield being leveled, that comes off as really selfish.

It doesn't make me happy. To be honest I don't really feel anything. I don't pity them, for we have had it worse for years, but because we know what it's like to have a disadvantage we shouldn't get enjoyment from them. While 70 ping (the supposed max for the West Coast) sounds amazing to me right now, I can see why it sounds terrible to someone used to a much lower number.

I've been playing on a connection that ranges from 90 on a good day to 200 on a bad. Random spikes of over 600 are not uncommon. Once had a game where I hit 12,000. That was weird... Having everyone's ping be standardized will be a good change for the community. It will require shifts in play from both East-Coasters getting used to the much lower ping and having a faster response time, and also West-Coasters getting used to a slightly higher ping and learning to factor in a minor delay. This may even allow the East-Coast to field a few Pros of its own. Up until now, most seem to be based on the West Coast. The first few days will be strange for all of NA, but we will adapt. We will evolve to this new standard, and overall we will become stronger.

What's that that they used to say to us East-Coasters? that 120+ ping "isn't that bad" and we're over-exagerating?

Come on West coasters, 60 ping isn't that bad at all!

If it is, then why do you tell us it's fine?

I am certainly glad to see the horizon where things will normalize across the server. It's an unfair advantage for a portion of the server population to have sub-50 ping while 50-60% of the population is double that. I know it sucks to see that your ping will increase, but knowing that you will be playing on a more level playing field across the board is worth it.

Perhaps it's just me, but I am living on the west coast myself, and I still have ping issues occasionally, where it will remain a constant 150 throughout an entire game. I'm in Oregon; even the servers are there! This hasn't happened to me recently, but I have dealt with this before for up to an entire week, then it stops temporarily and starts back up again. Stop trying to make it seem as if the east coast is the only portion of the United States of America that has issues; we all do.

I just moved from the east coast to west coast 2 months ago. This feels horrible for me.

wait... people are complaining cuz their ping might go up to 50? i'm on the west coast myself and whenever my ping increases, it really isn't all that noticeable until it gets to ~100-120... don't know why people are complaining about going from 30 ping to 50 >_>

this is also something i notice when someone has 60 fps usually, then it goes down to 50 and they flip their shit... i personally don't notice any change whatsoever whether the fps is at 60 or at 30, it only gets bad when it's down to ~15

Edit: i honestly really feel bad for the people on the east coast, who have to play with 90+ 24/7.. and they really do deserve to have an even playing field for once.

I would love to see a study tracking gold+ players based on their ping differential before/after and their rank before/after.

Meanwhile, I'm sitting smack dab in the middle of the country, awating my 50 ping

Vlasimuthe8/8/2015, 4:33:00 AM1 votes

It's not that West coasters want East coasters to continue suffering stupid high ping so the West coast can enjoy 20 ping. West coast players would like to keep their current ping because that is where the game can be played at a decent level; any higher ping than 30 and you can't make those awesome plays that require precision timing. West coasters would just like East coast players to have their own server so they too can have <30 ping. I don't know why East coasters act like the West coast hates them so much just because the West coast has the game in a playable state while Riot has left the East coast in an unplayable one. When I have 70-90 ping champions still teleport around the map which is really really bad as an enemy will get you down to 50% health before you realized you were being attacked.
