Ok Riot, talk to us, what's going on.

"This year we were hugly lacking new content. Almost no new skins, no new champions (personally im happy with it if it came with proper balancing the of old champions), no nothing. Only 1 Harrowing skin. Only 1 release skin. You said you want to reduce quantity to increase quality but that's not truth sometimes. Or often.

Last new splash arts are fiasco, I can quickly name Sivir, Victorious Elise or Garen, Olaf.

What is eating your resources? Because we seriously dont know."

Yep. Riot hasn't been totally overhauling and setting the bar for the esports scene, updating graphics on a number of older champions (sure some aren't out quite yet, but they take time), given us a new map/game mode, and working on balance look-ahead for season 4.

They've clearly been just sitting around doing nothing for the last 10 months.

In all reality, though. I admit I'm a bit disappointed with having only one real skin for Harrowing this year. It's always been a pretty fun event, and this just feels almost like an after thought. Sure, the one skin is really good, but I never really expect the holiday event skins to be the greatest of quality. It's more just the fun aspect of it.

they're spreading themselves thin man. and spending a ton of resources on making higher quality art. and between all the VU's and the reworks and the new champs and the updates. yeah skins are going to be put on the backburner.

plus all the focus on esports this year, the new stuff like teambuilder percolating on PBE. yeah they were bound to slow down. they're also working on lots of VU's and other content. personally. with so many champs im glad they slowed down their release. it means the game only changes once a month or so. as far as skins go. the new skins are way nicer. and sure do i wish there were more of the lower quality skins. but with the exception of the champs released in the last year, the older ones mostly have sufficient selection. and the ones from the last year or so. i'm good with waiting.

There were significantly more VU's this season than the past two combined. Re-modeling an already existing character can be even more difficult than doing a new champion, due to having to keep with a set theme while also trying to update it to fit within the game as a whole.

Also, think about how much work goes into re-doing EVERY skin for EVERY VU'd champion. I'd say that's where a lot of resources have gone.

With any project that suddenly grows rapidly, you have to start looking at how you started and revising everything to match the standard people expect of you. Riot made a lot of champions with lores that don't match, they have older graphics, and are slowly working on creating a better harmony in their game. They have decided to update and refine already existing elements before expanding and introducing even more content that will inevitably put more on their plate. It's a slow pace but they're progressing if you look at the amount of reworks they are currently doing and the VUs as well. Let's not forget today's eSports scene is even bigger as well.

Master what you have before trying to tackle new things. It's not a bad philosophy by any stretch of the imagination.

Between problems with EUW, opening of several new servers globally, and their massively increased presence in e-sports this season I can imagine money and management is absolute hell right now. As for content itself, I'm sure with the Freljord precedent Riot is (speculation) looking to revamp a lot more of their content, which involves wrestling the beast of conflicting lore, ability balance, artwork e-quality and generally almost means building the game up from scratch again. I'm honestly surprised there are enough art and lore resources to go around for a high profile champ like Jinx.

You are saying guys, that they are increasing their art quality but nope, just take a look at new splash arts. Only Xerath wasnt dissapointemnt, the rest is some weird stuff with unrealistic dynamic poses (and im personally fine with dynamic poses as long as they dont look silly like Sivirs) or doesnt fitting the current style of LoL or champion. Just look at Olaf.

And while i understand VU argument i have to add something, they are not doing new splash arts for every skin that was VU. So while modelers might me busy where are folks that just do splash arts? Why dont we see tons of updated splashes? Where are those guys?
