Is There A Riot Statement About Teams In Series

I know I'm not the only one to bring it up before. You work your way through gaining 100 LP to reach your series. For the most part even the loses make sense. You reach your series and it feels like you are playing on a level 5 account in respect to your teammates. I have heard the "You are being tested to carry games" argument, but has this ever been said by anyone from Riot?

I lost 3 series tonight. The games in between did not seem out of the ordinary. Enter the series and that level 5 account mode kicks in. I don't get this game. I main support, I'm geared to set people up and save them. If you give me a potato every time I enter a series how do I make it Carry?
