A Simple Request
As the season has been nearing its end, I've been making the mad dash for the next tier, much like several other players. And throughout the games I've played I have noticed a recurring theme that a hefty amount of games are still being ruined or swayed by toxic players. I've both won and lost my fair share of them, and on the losing team it's simply demoralizing to have a player who is either A) Hounding you all game or B) Throwing themselves at their opponent to give them a huge advantage. I understand if the former occurs you can simply mute them, and that's usually enough. However there's no way to play around an intentionally feeding teammate or the enemy player who is now fed thanks to said player. Even on the winning side of this, you don't feel like you've really earned much, I try my hardest to not focus on the result of the ranked game, and try to focus solely on improving my own play (because there's always room for improvement, and I understand that). But when I repeatedly run into situations like this I lose my will to play, because the odds of ending up with a fair game feel so slim. Anyway, the worst part is that these players usually get off scot free, since, in my experience, the winning side who just received a free win courtesy of the player will let the player off the hook. Why would they report the person who just won them the game? Does the Tribunal work? Statistics say most of the time, but what about players that the opposing team lets go just because they got a free win from them? I'm not saying I've never played in a game where I didn't report a toxic player, and I'm not saying that every player who has been reported deserves it, but if you as a player are in a game with another toxic player, put yourself in the shoes of the unfortunate side. If you are the one who just had to suffer through 20+ minutes, ask yourself, do you really want to force others to deal with this? Or do you wanna risk running into this player again? It takes, like, ten seconds to report someone but it can save you, or someone else, 20 minutes or more down the road. Thanks to all who read this all the way through, I tend to elaborate a tad too much, and best of luck in your future endeavors both on and off the Rift.
