Sivir, A critical look

With the relaunch of Sivir as of early this morning, lots of people have been playing Sivir. I am one of those people. Playing with the new skins, and a variety of item builds to test min-and-max opportunities of this remake I have come to the sad opinion that she is as ever trash tier for and adc as before.

I've come to this conclusion for the following, if not disappointed, findings around her new kit. Sivir is a close-ranged marksmen who excels at straight line aoe, and clustered group aoe damage. She provides a group ms aura that decays over time, and a unique spell absorption ability that gives mana on pop. The problem with all of this, I find, is how poorly W scales with items or levels, and heavily relies on her ultimate levels to provide it with the push it needs. In addition, her ultimate is underwhelming, and boring - seriously, it's like popping a shurlias, thanks for the support mechanic Riot!

To go into detail as to why these are problems, let's first look at her W, Ricochet. Ricochet provides Sivir with a bouncing basic attack for 3 attacks. These attacks will apply total AD damage on the first hit, and then subsequent bounces will apply only a percentage of your total AD. Now, let's say she has 100 AD, and has a Rank 1 Ricochet. Her first auto attack would deal 100 AD, and the bounce would deal 50% of that to enemies around the target.

Simple enough, this shows that her W is more of an underpowered aoe tool than a form of poke. When she hits 6, Sivir's W experiences a major aspd steriod that boosts her aspd by 40%, at rank 1. This change is underwhelming as well. This ultimate ability is just a MS buff, that provides very little threat to the enemy as it only applies the aspd to the 3 W stacks.

These problems, are worsened by the fact that W does not apply on-hit effects and critical chances to the bounces as well. In addition to this, Sheen procs, or Crits on the first hit, do not amplify bouncing damage in any way either. The crippling low damage #s, and generic items that work well with Ricochet make Sivir as boring as ever.

These major problems, in addition to her lack of escape, and short range make me still believe she isn't worth the time to play in Ranked Queue as there are other ADCs out there that does what she does better, and safer.

Overall, I would say that the relaunch has made Sivir prettier to look at, but not any more appealing than before to play. Please share your experiences with Sivir, or what you think about her.

As a Sivir player I find it a little funny that most of what is pointed too as being weakness is exactly why I pick her.

First of all, I find that consistantly Sivir's single target DPS is low but her real advantage is being able to split push better than most if not all other ADC's. The arguement can be made that others do it more efficiently, but with the addition of her movespeed while W is active I find it difficult to believe that an alert Sivir would be caught in most cases.

Her ult, which is "boring" is a devastating advantage when used in conjunction with a team consisting of melee/bruiser type allies. Watching a your top laner and jungle get that additional (or stacking) speed boost is pretty slick when engaging on a team that tries to maximize their disengage to counter your melee heavy composition. And although the spell affect isn't as dramatic as Graves' or Ashe's ults, it certainly has the abiity to make your team very quickly shred towers or objectives before the other team has the opportunity to respond.
