Hey Riot, do you guys collect information like this?

Do you guys track perceived community stereotypes to see if they are actually true? For example, do carry roles attract people with toxic attitudes? Is there a correlation between an individual seeing his KDA as high relative to his team and the likelihood that he will be toxic?

This was a while ago from someone analyzing Tribunal cases: http://forums.na.leagueoflegends.com/board/showthread.php?t=2445574

First, we'll compare how often a champion is reported to how often it is played.

Tryndamere - 15.8% report rate Twitch - 15.6% Master Yi - 15.1% Evelynn - 14.9% Mordekaiser - 13.9% ... Ahri - 6.8% Sona - 6.0% Taric - 5.9% Leona - 5.6% Janna - 5.4%

So when seen, Tryndamereis the the most likely to be reported, and Janna the least.

That covers reports, but once reported, who is most likely to be punished?

Irelia - 77.7% conviction rate Udyr - 77.6% Volibear - 75.9% Trundle - 73.3% Xerath - 73.2% ... Maoki - 57.6% Malphite - 56.8% Skarner - 55.7% Jayce - 54.2% Leona - 52.6%

(NOTE: this was back in 2012.)

Here's something more recent from Reddit: http://www.reddit.com/r/leagueoflegends/comments/1ynzsg/champions_played_by_the_most_toxic_players_chart/

However, this is correlation and not necessarily causation. It's not clear if toxic players gravitated towards these champions, or that they were frustrating to play against and so people just reported them more out of spite/frustration. But given that the bottom of both lists is pretty much all supports, there's probably some factor of angry players preferring carries and not more team-oriented champions.

It would be interesting to see data like this... I play mainly carry roles because my friend who got me into the game played support and taught me to play AD Carry. I enjoy other roles, but APC and ADC are my best roles as a result to the amount of time I spent in bot lane with him. (I played Miss Fortune for almost a year non-stop when I started playing the game.) I am however, to my knowledge, not a toxic player at all. I have never been banned and as far as I am aware, never been reported enough to get into the tribunal. I don't react poorly when people start raging at me. If I am having a bad day, and I start getting annoyed, I log off for the day and cool down.

I have a mindset that objectives are more important than my KDA, going 3/15/8 doesn't matter if you are winning overall... So you might have a good theory to work on there. I'll bet RiotLyte and his team are hard at work finding the data on this stuff already.

If you haven't seen it already RiotLyte did an amazing talk at GDC in 2013 on The Science Behind Shaping Player Behavior in Online Games. It is well worth the watch if you are interested at all in Player Behavior.
