Re-releasing old skins was the damage control, not the "compensation"

The reason Riot re-released the old skins was to prevent the mass amount of newer players from raging out when they only released two (although only one is Halloween themed) Harrowing skins with no Harrowing map.

The compensation means absolutely nothing to Riot. They create RP out of thin air. Re-releasing the old skins allows Riot to still earn a profit off of the newer players while providing a form of damage control preventing them from complaining about the amount of new skins they created.

This Harrowing we get:

  • a 1350 Zyra skin as well as an Officer Vi skin. The Officer idea is hardly a theme unique to "The Harrowing" when we have police/swat themed skins with Graves, Blitz, Caitlyn, and more

  • a new way to give Riot our money for RP in the "random skin gifting" system, once again manipulating newer players into trying to get limited & legacy skins, as well as the more expensive Legendary skins

  • a couple of summoner icons we "earn."

  • Furthermore, Limited Edition skin owners get the shaft even MORE with a chance at buying only one new "Harrowing" themed skin in Haunted Zyra.. and it's 1350.

Riot is decreasing ways of getting IP (they've lessened it per game, they've removed IP from custom games) while increasing RP and IP prices (7800 IP champions, 1350 / 1820 RP skins) overall as well as cheap ways to give them RP (re-releasing old skins, skin gifting roulette)

I will not be surprised at all when the same happens during the Christmas skin sales.

While Riot can create RP out of thin air, every point of RP they create is money they are handing out. People purchase RP, so when Riot returns RP they are losing money. Yes this is a way to make more money off new players but what about us players that joined literally right after these limited edition skins were no longer available? I wasn't into the game enough to sink money into it, so I didn't buy any of the skins (I joined after Harrowing 2009). Now Riot is returning the skins due to popular demand (which I am excited about). So Riot comes out ahead in the money game and makes their now much larger player base happy, in return Riot stays around for longer and more people join/play the game.

The Vi skin could simply be a joke, since she was a criminal to start with she is dressing up as a police officer for Halloween (Obviously what The Harrowing is based off of). Hence the point of the skin.

The Zyra skin (the second 1350 Zyra skin for that matter), actually matches the theme overall. I don't see anything wrong with that. Remember that all of the 2009 Harrowing skins are returning as well. So we are looking at 10+ skins this year.

The "random skin gifting" system is kind of like a Trick-or-Treat scenario, you go to a house say "Trick-or-Treat" and get what you get. Same thing with the random skin gifting. Suprise you get Pulsefire Ezreal! Or you might get Panda Teemo, who knows.

Summoner Icons are always cool, we don't have enough of them.

Riot has removed ways to FARM IP (even XP to some extent). If you play normal games and play the game normally then you receive an amount of IP that I feel is still a decent amount. 7800IP is only for a week, if you really want the champion you will then play more etc to get them. 1820 has always been the price for legendary skins, 1350 is just a middle ground for skins better than basic 975 skins but not Legendary quality skins.

Overall I don't see the problem here, Riot is a company trying to make money while doing good things for its community.

The 7800 cost is for new champs, to make it a bit more difficult to buy if you're a newer player, a player that generally buys lots of champs and runes when they just have enough, and this way it helps prevent them from "trying" them out for the first time in ranked games.

While you're whining about the lack of new skins, do remember the summer skins they released, and a few other ones on top of that, plus they had said earlier in the year they were releasing champs a bit slower, and lowering prices of them as they released new ones.

The game is free btw, they have on obligation to anyone. You do not own any of the skins you purchase, they remain the property of Riot, and you are simply allowed to use them. If your account is banned and you bought the LE skins and others, you would not be able to use them from another account. That's how much you own what you pay for.

The RP people buy pays for better servers, more servers around the world, allowing more and more people to play, and the game is FREE, and when they feel like it, because the game is FREE, they will release things when they feel like it.

They're not decreasing how much IP per gain you're getting, and it's only 7800 for the first week. They're also decreasing old champions IP prices with every new champion.

I can't argue about the skin prices, but the actual champion prices are still pretty reasonable.

It feels like they have started to ignore the community. I would like to see more free additions to this game. I really think they should give out ward skins for free.

So basically, you're saying "We didn't get as much as last year, therefore they don't care enough"

Where does that line of reasoning end? They need to make more than the previous year? Seems like the player base is acting like they're entitled to optional holiday content.

I don't have a problem with 2 skins for Harrowing. I don't think they need to outdo themselves every year, because eventually they'll just burn out.
