A brief rant concerning the community
I understand that the community is dynamic and changing, I've watched it do so since 2008, but I've noticed some things on both the boards, and in matches, that are completely off kilter:
1: I think nationalism should be just as punishable as racism. No, I do not mean being patriotic towards one's own country. I mean when someone merely begins bashing another's country based on, generally incorrect, stereotypes... and does so maliciously. I've watched the tribunal since it's inception, and it is very rare for an individual to get banned under Verbal Abuse for slandering the Chinese, Americans, etc etc. It's tiresome, it's childish, and it is, fundamentally, Abuse. Granted I grew up overseas and didn't live in the USA until I hit 18 and moved off base, but hey, so I may be a bit more accustomed to seeing past national stereotypes, and understand why they are offensive at times.
2: I'm 31 years old, and to be quite candid I should be able to not have to deal with certain minor things while trying to play the game... for example, being told that I'm too old to play video games lol... no reason for rules to be against kids being kids, but for those kids that read this, you just look r%%%%%ed, even if your friends on Skype laugh... and no one cares how much you think you get laid.
3: In Normal Matches, which to me is still League of Legends as I fell in love with this game before Ranked came out, you have... honestly... every right to complain about how someone builds their champion. However, while you have the right to complain, you really don't have the right to attempt to lie to the other team to attempt to get them to report them for fictitious reasons. I think blatantly false reports (outside Unskilled), should also be brought before the tribunal after enough times... it isn't like the Tribunal can't see what happened in the game to tell if it is true or false.
4: Ranked is awesome, I even occasionally watch the big tournaments... but when you begin to give a dissertation on why someone has to play a certain champion a specific style, build, rune and mastery set, etc etc... when they didn't want your advice in the first place? And your reasoning is SoAndSo played it in the last tournament? You need to turn off your streams and get back to playing the game. The professional players shift, tweak, and occasionally blatantly build in ways no one else but them understands at the time. That's why they make money and you don't. Attempting to copy something you only understand mathematically, and have no practical understanding of, will fail you in the long run... and almost invariably does.
5: League of Legends is designed very meticulously. Champions will always be released that are way off mathematically and be fairly over powered (except Vlad... they just have always hated that guy). They will then be nerfed so drastically that they vanished. Then they will be rebalanced and made whole again. Your ideas are always welcome, and fun to read, and extremely rarely they actually listen to them... however beginning to merely scream and yell on the boards, or just tell RIOT you would quit the game if they 'Don't Do SuchAndSuch,' will accomplish nothing. In fact I almost want to give you a cookie when you do it so that you can stick something in your mouth. You leaving costs RIOT nothing (or the rest of us for that matter if you have that mind set). Yes, RIOT would be nothing without it's players, but there are those of us who have spent thousands of dollars on this game, and those who spend 20 bucks. Often it is those who spend the 20 bucks that begin on tirades about how much RIOT needs them, and those of us that have provided actual amounts of money... from the beginning... just sit back and grab popcorn. Cut it out, deal with the fact that with this many champions, dynamics, and items no perfect balance will ever be reached, and no they cannot just stop releasing champions for awhile.
