Player behavioral Ideals

Hey guys, we've all had that player that was just verbally abusive with no stop, that person that was just overly rude, or that person that just crossed a line telling someone to "kill yourself" (which in no situation should EVER be told to anyone) an idea I had was a system that would temporarily chat restrict a player during a game. Let me explain, Say a player had a bad experience during a specific point in the game and starts going off on his/her team and/or a specified player non-stop with verbal abuse using foul language and slang words, the system would pick up on these ques and after so many "counters" the player would receive a temporary chat restriction for a specified amount of time, say three minutes, or until the end of the game. Now obviously, there is a mute button for a reason, yet in some cases this doesn't stop some people to get sucked into being abused and not muting. The system would allow for the player that has been heavily verbally abusing whomever to take a "time-out" and re-asses, and if the player keeps on after the timer ends, a longer more permanent (until the game ends) could take effect. As of right now I'm more of the "What" is it going to do rather than "How" its going to do it. This system could prevent a lot of verbal abuse issues (in the more severe cases). What do you guys think? Help me Combat Player Toxicity in the community! Thanks!

It would be nice if they could do that but its probably not practical to be parsing all chat live.

Its definitely a good idea. I think its just going to be too expensive to be considered worth it. They could probably also get most of the benefits from something like regular PSAs about using the mute button.

Well I spoke with someone in riot though email about this. And this is a part of what he said " What you propose sounds technologically possible and like a good idea in my opinion. I personally should not comment on publicly as a Rioter because that is not my area of expertise and people would confuse my personal opinion with that of the company. However, I will forward your post onto Lyte internally. It doesn't mean anything will come of it as he can't personally answer millions of emails, but he sure tries :) " . From whom I have talked to, I have been told that this post needs support by the community in order for this system to considered. I do think that if this board got support by the community that it is definitely possible for this system to be implemented.

The way I see it, Verbal Toxicity is almost never the same. The phrases and words used, the intent behind them. In the end, you are just looking at a screen, so you never really fully understand the whole meaning of what the individual meant at that moment. Que: Tribunal, Riot employees go though Report cases, and when it isn't blatant, they have to decide if the individual being judged is faulty of what they are being accused of. This process can take time, one of the benefits of the system would help prevent so many cases having to be elevated to reporting someone, causing less stress on the player support department .

An example of what the system could do is, in real time, read the comments of each player and search for key words or phrases, monitors the time in-between each "event"(word/phrase that is counted by the system), and after enough "events" the player receives a in-game mute(cannot type or see what is being typed by other players) for a specified amount of time(continuing to do this process this until a more "Soft Permanent"[a mute that is placed by the system onto a player, that starts ingame and ends ingame or one that starts ingame and continues until the case is reviewed] mute occurs) . This allows for the player to take a time out and calm down, causing for the core of the issue to be put to rest for at least minute or two and stop the situation from escalating. this would prevent a large amount of verbal abuse. Not only decreasing the amount of reports sent, it would also prevent a lot of minority cases(like someone had their account banned, so they went to a new account and don't care about being banned on the new one, so they are more abusive). It could also be developed to adapt to the language used, allowing the system to learn more of the common phrases and words used in abuse cases.
