Legends of Runeterra [Suggestion-ish] (PLEASE READ! It took me about 4 days to make this lol)
(Reposted from my thread on EU forums) You can already guess by the title that my idea is to make an MMO about LoL. Oh, wait, before you scroll away, here are few questions: 1. Do you want a fast paced MMORPG? 2. Do you want an MMORPG that combines elements of a shooter, action game, RPG, open world and quick paced gameplay? 3. Do you want new ways for Riot to expand on the lore of Runneterra without being restricted by the MOBA type of the game? 4. Do you want Riot to stop putting so much money on new champions and focus a bit more on balancing the existing characters? (I don't) If you said 'yes' to at least 2 questions, then continue reading this! I'll make few categories so you don't have to read everything if you're not interested in it. Thanks.
#1 The Intro Story
*As we all know, Demacia and Noxus have been the dominant factions in many years. To end this rivalry,
Jericho Swain decided to finally take things into his own hands. In the aftermath of the so called 'Cleansing of Zaun', scientists of Piltover took over Zaun and jailed many citizens and took care of all the heads of Zaun and 'Champions' in it. Noxus sieged on the jail of Zaun, freeing all the major people of Zaun and forced them to join the Noxian Empire. Piltover was pushed out of the streets of Zaun, and, eventually, they made a plan.
Dr. Mundo was given the task to create more 'Mutants', and, when he did that, the invasion of Piltover started. People were slaughtered, and, luckily, Demacia noticed this. They knew that they would be the next target, so they helped Piltover and created the 'Union' that consists of Demacian Humans, Humans of Piltover and Yordles of Piltover. They both knew the faction that would decide the tide of this war: Ionia. If any of the factions managed to get their help, the war would easily be over.
King Jarvan Lightshield the IV, who has claimed the title of the King after the death of his father by the hands of
LeBlanc, decided to talk to the most meaningful 'leader' of Ionia,
Karma. It is not a secret that Noxians and Ionians had many wars and a simple 'please' wouldn't be able to get Ionians to the Noxian side, so
Swain decided to threaten them. If they joined Demacia, a war would happen, which would threaten the lives of innocents. But
Karma was smart. She didn't want any Ionian to die if their death could be prevented, so she told Noxus that she wouldn't join them, but she wouldn't join the Union neither. IF Noxus attacked Ionia, then they would crush Noxus with the help of the Union. Now, Demacians and Noxus battle it out in Valoran, discovering new places while Ionia seeks a more peaceful path in their own stories that follow their faction while leveling, including the story of
Garen and
Katarina, the reunion of
Vi,
Jinx and
Ekko and the story of
Bard *.
Once you do get to the max level, however, you will have much to do, and there will always be updates that will finally allow us to explore the Bandle City, the Glade, Frejlord, Bilgewater, the Shadow Isles, Shurima, Void and many more zones.
#2 Gameplay, Classes, Races and More
This one will be easier to explain in multiple sections.
1. Factions In Legends of Runneterra, there would be three factions: Union, that consists of Humans of Demacia, Humans of Piltover and Yordles of Piltover. The Noxian Empire, that consists of Humans of Noxus, Humans of Zaun and Mutants of Zaun. Ionia, which consists of Humans of Ionia.
2. PvP and PvE *The 2 Factions that are focused on PvP are Union and The Noxian Empire. Ionia, on the other hand, will be totally focused on PvE. All factions can join Battlegrounds, but Union and the Empire also have many World PvP zones. Ionia's questing consists of helping the innocents while Union and Empire battle constantly in their questing zones. *
3. Classes
*I probably should have put this before PvP and PvE but I'm too lazy to edit this. There are 5 classes in the game: Warrior, Assassin, Mage, Marksman and a Support. Every race and every factions has it's own 'teacher'. As an example, if you choose to be a Human Demacian Warrior, you will be taught by
Garen, but, if you choose to be a, let's say Zaun Fighter, you will be taught by
Dr. Mundo. Every ultimate is at a 5 minute cooldown. I will be reffering to 'Charged L- Click' as L-Click, since just L-Click is a simple basic attack. All the spells will be inspired by the ones of the 'trainers'. Alright, I will make few more sections. *
Warrior
-
Demacian Human Warrior- They are taught by
** Garen**. To fight, you use L-Click, R-Click and R. L-Click is similar to Garen's Q, it allows you to charge at an enemy and deal some minor damage. It also has a very low cd. R-Click is similar to his E, spinning around in enemies and dealing AoE damage, that also has a low cd, about 10 seconds. His R is like Jarvan IV's ultimate.
Demacian Yordle Warrior- They are taught by
Poppy. Her L-Click charges her attack, similarily to Human Q, but it doesn't give you a speed bonus and deals more damage, like Poppy's Q. E is, as you probably guessed, like Poppy's E. Every Fighter in the same faction shares ultimate, so, Demacian Fighters all share 1 R, same goes for Noxians.
Piltover Human Warrior- They are taught by
Jayce. Your L-Click... I think you get the idea. On the other hand, your R-Click is like his W. His R allows him to stun all the enemies in a nearby area.
Piltover Yordles can't be Warriors.
Noxian Human Warrior- They are taught by
Darius. Your L-Click is like Darius' W. All basic abilities have a short cd, and so does this one. Your R-Click is like Darius' E, it's on like 20 second cd. R is, as you could guess, Darius' ultimate.
Zaunian Mutant Warrior- They are taught by
** Dr. Mundo**. Your L-Click is like Mundo's Q. Your R-Click is like Mundo's W. It takes away your health but has no cd.
Zaunian Human Warrior- They are taught by
Udyr (who joined the Noxian Empire to get some resources for the fallen Winterclaw clan). His kit is pretty simple. His L-Click allows him to stun (Bear Stance). His R-Click allows him to get bonus armor (Turtle Stance). His R gives him bonus damage, armor and magic resist and allows him to deal AoE damage and burn his enemies (Phoenix Stance).
Noxian Mutants can't be Warriors.
Ionian Human Warrior- They are taught by
Shen. Your R-Click is like his E and your R is like his R. His passive also works in this game, and, the L-Click will be like the one of the Reworked Shen, who is currently in plans.*Assassins * Demacian Human Assassin- They are taught by
Fiora. Your L-Click is like Fiora's Q. Your R-Click is like her W. Your R is like Fiora's ult, it's only usable on enemy players or bosses.
Piltover Human Assassin - They are taught by
Vi. Your L-Click is like Vi's E. Your R-Click is like her Q. Her R is also like the one of Vi.
Piltover Yordles and Demacian Yordles can't be Assassins.
Noxian Human Assassin- They are taught by
Katarina. Your L-Click is like Kata's Q. Your R-Click is like Talon's E. Her R is like Kata's ultimate, but she disappears and becomes invisible, and the daggers come from multiple directions.
Zaunian Human Assassin- They are taught by
Ekko. Your L-Click alows you to dash to an enemy, like his E. His R-Click is like Ekko's Q, a disc that deals damage and even more damage when it returns.
Zaunian Mutants and Noxian Mutants can't be Assassins. Ionian Human Assassin- They are taught by
Akali. Your L-Click is like her Q, and your R-Click is like her E. She is passively invisible until she attacks/does some stupid sht. Your R is like her R, it's also on a short cooldown.
Mage
- Demacian Yordle Mage- They are taught by
Heimerdinger (who joined Demacia to further expand his research). Your L-Click allows you to throw Heimerdinger's W, while your R-Click is like his E. Ultimate is also used to empower one of these abilities.
Piltover Human Mage- They are taught by
Lux (who went to Piltover after she became a very close friend with
Ezreal). Her L-Click is like her Q, and her R-Click is like her E. As you could probably guess, R is like her... R.
Piltover Yordle Mage- They are taught by
Ziggs. Your L-Click is like your Q, R-Click is like your W and R is like your R. I know this is pretty simplified but this sheit is hard for you to read, imagine how it feels to me to write it.
Demacian Humans don't exist.
Noxian Human Mage- They are taught by
Cassiopeia. By just telling you the champion I think I've told you everything. Your L-Click is like her Q. Your R-Click is like her E. Your R is like her R.
Zaunian Human Mage- They are taught by
Brand (who will get some new lore that will make him affilated to Noxus). L-Click is like his Q, and R-Click is like his W. His ultimate is like Brand's R.
Zaunian Mutant Mage- They are taught by
Viktor(who, in search for power, turns himself into a Mutant). L-Click is like his E, and his R-Click is like Mundo's E. Ultimate is still the same as Viktor's one.
Noxian Mutants can't be Mages.
Ionian Humans can't be Mages.*
Marksman
- Demacian Human Marksman- They are taught by
Vayne. If you punch an enemy 3 times, the third attack will deal bonus damage. like W. L-Click is Vayne's Q and R-Click is Vayne's E. R remains the same as the Vayne's one.
Demacian Yordle Marksman- They are taught by
Tristana. L-Click is like Trist's E, and holding R-Click activates your Q, and it also takes away your 'energy'. R still remains the same as the one of Tristana.
Piltover Human Marksman- They are taught by
Jayce(ranged mode). L-Click is like his ranged Q, and R-Click is like his ranged W.
Piltover Yordles can't be Marksmen.
Noxian Human Marksman- They are taught by
Draven. These guys are pretty interesting. When pressing L-Click, Draven's Q activates. Once you throw a basic, the axe will be thrown on the other side. The L-Click deals A LOT OF DAMAGE, and, to reactivate it, you need to pick it up. While your axe is not in your hands, your L-Click allows you to get a speed boost, like Draven's W. R-Click is like Draven's E, it throws axes that'll make catching axes easier.
Noxian Mutant Marksman- They are taught by
Urgot (who is also considered a Mutant). Your L-Click is like Urgot's Q and your R-Click is like Urgot's E, but, the ultimate is a bit different. You completely stun the enemy for a semi-long period of time, which leaves the enemy completely helpless.
Zaunian Human Marksman- They are taught by
Jinx (who joined Noxian Empire to crush Piltover). Your L-Click allows you to change from bullets to rockets. You have ammo, about 100 bullets and 3 rockets, once you run out of it you will have to wait about 20 seconds until it recharges. Your R-Click is like the W of Jinx, and your R is like the one of Jinx.
Zaunian Mutants can't be Marksmen.
Ionian Human Marksman- They are taught by
Varus (who teamed up with Ionians again to redeem himself). Your Basic Attacks apply Varus' W. Your L-Click allows him to throw a very high range attack, like Varus' Q. As you could guess, your R-Click is like Varus' E. *
Supports Supports are a bit more different. Everyone in a faction has the same leader. Every faction's supports have it's focus: In Union, they are tanks. In the Noxian Empire, they are burst-stun mages. In Ionia, they use healing spells.
Union- *They are taught by
Alistar (who teamed up with Demacians after they gave him a place to live after escaping from Noxus). His L- Click is like his Q, and his R-Click is like his W. He passively heals people around him. His R is an armor-mr steroid, like the one of Alistar. *
The Noxian Empire- They are taught by
Morgana. Your L-Click is like her Q whille your R-Click is like her E. Ultimate, as you could guess, is like Morg's ultimate.
Ionia- They are taught by
Soraka. Your L-Click is like her W while your R-Click is like her E. Your R is the same as the one of Soraka.
Marksman and Support *All classes can interract with other players, but, these two must do it. When making a Marksman/Support, you need to have a friend that will be the other role. You level up together, play together and if one isn't online, the other can still level them BOTH up, but it will be twice as hard. *
Playstyle of Classes *While playing LoR, it feels like you're playing a whole different game whenever you log into a different character. Warriors and Tanky Supports have a feel similar to games like Batman: Arkham. Assassins also have their idea taken from Arkham games, more specifically 'The Predator Mode'. Mages and Noxian Supports have an unique feel to them, maybe a little inspired by SMITE. Playing a Marksman is like playing a FPS. Playing an Ionian Support is one of the things that are very similar to LoL itself. The game is in the third person camera angle, by the way. *
**4. Raids and Dungeons ** Raids and Dungeons work differently in this game. For a dungeon, you need 1 Warrior, 1 Assassin, 1 Mage, 1 Marksman and 1 Support. For a Raid, you need at least 10 players. You need: 5-8 Warriors, 1-5 Assassins, 2-5 Mages, 1 Marksman and 1 Support. The idea is similar to most raids in WoW, you fight trash, you get to a boss, you fight a boss, you fight trash, but there are many interactions with the map that specific classes can interract with. As an example, you could pull out a pipe and beat the crap out of someone with it if you were a Warrior or a Union Support, or destroy parts of the map that would fall on the trash/boss if you were an Assassin, or take orbs that would empower you if you were a Mage/Noxian/Ionian Support.
5. Battlegrounds and PvP Events In Battlegrounds, there are two sides: Union and The Noxian Empire. If a Ionian player enters the battleground, he will be randomly put in a group. The Battlegrounds will be MOBA-like, similar to Mini-SMITE. Summoners Rift will be open for everyone. Most PvP Events will happen on the Crystal Scar (which will be MUCH more pretty in this game). Examples are: Capture the Flag (Team Game), Last Man Standing, Last Team Standing. With expansions, you get new maps, egs. Twisted Treeline is like a new Battleground and the Howling Abbys can be a PvP event map.
#3 Story, Expansions, Open World
Questing stories will be connected, mostly between the Union and Noxian Empire. The questing experience of both will expand on the relationship of
Garen and
Katarina, which will eventually lead to them leaving their factions and going to Bilgewater, after which their spots as trainers will be taken by
King Jarvan IV and
Talon. Ionians will have a story that will further expand on the fight between
Shen and
Zed, and will eventually be ended by
Bard, who will come to stop the fight between the 2 parts of worlds before the world would become a destroyed battlefield.
Expansions will have a cost, but, they will come with Raids, Battlegrounds and new zones. The idea is that they will be chained. Here's how it would go: The activities in a forest where
Rengar was last seen are becoming very strange. Union and Noxian Empire will fight for the power, Union will try to set it free while the Empire will try to capture it
. Ionia will try to help
Rengar and will eventually even fight
Kha'Zix. Basically, Union and the Empire do stupid crap and then Ionia follows them around and fixes everything. Everyone will win in 'their way', Union will save the creature
, and the Empire will find the hidden Bandle City which was hidden in that forest. In the next expansion, there would be a fight over it where Union would try to deffend it (with the help of the Yordles, most specifically
Tristana and
Teemo), The Noxian Empire would try to conquer it and Ionia would spy on them and make sure no Yordle would get hurt. Eventually some forces would get stuck in the Glade where the next expansion would take place in, where Union and the Empire would fight over a mystic energy protecting the Glade from the outer world, while Ionians would help
Lulu escape her torment and insanity. Eventually, after the loss of Empire, they would realise that they need stronger warriors and would go in search of
Olaf, who left Winterclaw and became a lone wolf. Union would side with the Avarosan clan, Noxus would side with Winterclaw and Ionia would try to bring the end to the Frostguard clan. After not being able to find the Viking, the Noxians would go to Bilgewater, his next destination, where they would find a even worthier ally:
Gangplank. The Union, not knowing that the pirate survived, sided with
Miss Fortune and made a deal to kill any remaining GP fanatics while also slaying the Noxians. A massive war would emerge between the* Union **
, MF's pirates
, Graves and Twisted Fate
and the Empire
, GP's pirates
and Illaoi's Priests
. Ionians,
Garen and
Katarina would try to save as many innocents as possible. During the war (which should happen near Halloween), the Harrowing hits, a free expansion. It would be a fight against the powers of the Shadow Isles.
Thresh will return, but, instead of the now dead
Hecarim, he will bring
Yorick (who definitely needs some spoltight). All the forces will unite, Union
, Noxus
, Miss Fortune
, Gangplank
, Tobias and Malcolm
, Illaoi
, Ionia
and Garen and Katarina
. In this fight,
Lux and
Draven will die. They will manage to make a deal with
Kindred (which is kind of insane), saying that they would kill
Mordekaiser. After that, they recruited the powers of their factions and eventually almost failed to kill the Iron Revenant, but their brothers,
Garen (who went to this island to save his sister, not letting
Katarina go) and
Darius sacrifice, killing him. After that there's a faction event, like a funeral, after which the show continues. We go to Shurima, where a massive war emerges... you can see where this is going. From a small fight over a forrest to a massive scale fight against the Undead. Now, with expansions, you will get levels. Any player can just go ahead and try to, as an example, play a battleground that is supposed to come with an expansion, but, he will be a lower level than he is supposed to be and minions will be strong enough to kill him. And, don't worry, low levels can't be put in a team of high levels. *
#4 Appearances *When we talk about appearances, there are two things to talk about: appearances of Champions and appearances of Players. I'll go over each one. *
Champion Skins
These are the base skins that the champions are going to use:
-
Tyrant Swain- That's his lore appearance since he became the ruler of Noxus.
-
Warring Kingdoms Jarvan IV- How he will look as the King.
-
Ravenborn LeBlanc- I think that this skin suits her fairly well.
-
Order of the Lotus Karma- I kinda feel like this skin would connect her to
Irelia a bit more.
-
Rugged Garen- Showing how this character kinda aged, which gives this game a cool feel to it
-
High Command Katarina- Since her father has been missing, she earned the title of the High Command.
-
Spirit Guard Udyr- He continued his training and became the Spirit Guard.
-
Mutant Viktor- He turned into a Mutant, there's curreently no Mutant Viktor skin in the game tho.
-
Debonair Jayce- He became pretty classy. Kinda shows that he's a Piltover gentleman.
-
Mutant Urgot- Similarily to Viktor, he became a Mutant.
-
Infernal Alistar- Took the armor while escaping Noxus.
-
Celestine Soraka- Dunno it's a cool skin.
-
Crimson Elite Talon- Swain's elite Soldier and private assassin after the disappearance of Riven.
-
Forsaken Olaf- At the brink of death, he turns into... this.
-
Captain Fortune- The new Uncrowned Queen of Bilgewater.
-
Sweethearth Annie- Kinda like the Teenage Annie.
-
Debonair Ezreal- Totally fits Ezreal.
-
Order of the Lotus Irelia- Kinda connects her with Karma.
-
Traditional Lee Sin- Suits him a bit more I think.
-
Eternum Nocturne- It's cool and doesn't go against his lore (which will be changed anyways).
-
Full Metal Pantheon- Well, it seems like it goes well with his theme.
-
Warring Kingdoms Xin Zhao- As the armor of the King changed, his right arm's armor changes too.
Appearances and Transmogs Similarily to the system in DCUO, the gear will always look fitting, you won't have a yellow-black-red-blue-green suit, you will have a black suit, or yellow suit, or blue suit, depends on your class. You can always buy transmogs, as an example, for an assassin you can puy a... PROJECT Yasuo/Zed transmog. It's a pretty cool system.
#5 Itemization
Items that you get are similar to LoL items. It's rare that you have a finished- legendary item (eg.
Statikk Shiv), that's mostly what Mythic Raiders have. You get items from questing, PvE, sometimes even from PvP, but, in PvP, you are moslty presented with few items that you can choose from.
You usually get items like
that you can combine and get a new item. Your 'items' slot is the same as the one in LoL.
Thank you for your time.
