Why is it suddenly fun to watch other people play video games? I'm talking about the streaming thing. Why is this a thing? Do people actually watch those things? Why? I just don't get it, I used to be livid when my brother would make me watch him play video games. Then he would be angry when it was my turn and he has to watch me. But now it's like a cool thing to do? Someone pls explain.

Watching RedMercy (he's the only one I watch regularly) you learn how to make plays as a mid and his team fights are exciting to watch. I chalk it up to being just like watching Football or any professional sport - these guys can do something on a different level than I can, so I watched the masters at work.

Its entertaining for one. For 2 people like to watch others who are better then them so that they can learn and work on their own skills. Just like how in high school my football team had to sit and watch pro players play so that we could learn and watch what they do and what not.

I enjoy watching a lot of markiplier. I could go to anyone to watch a whole play through of a game he'd done. But I enjoy watching it because of Markiplier..

You don't watch it just because of the game you watch it for the enjoyment of enjoying it with someone else. You also may enjoy someone's personality who is playing it.

Let's be real watching a quiet stream can sometimes be a bit boring but add someone who talks and makes silly comments, reacts, and stuff it than becomes a more better experience.

This has to be the main video that got me to watch brofresco... made me laugh as he's like "Riot.. what .. have.. you.. done.. to... My favorite... champion... this mobility..."

and I'm just giggling..

as far as streams go, they can be fun if the streamer always has something to watch and is constantly engaged with people in the chat section like replying to people.. that's the sign of a good streamer, they're engaged and engaging and if you enjoy their personality.. the better it is..

Were you upset you had to watch or that you couldn't play. You chose to watch him instead of do something else like watch TV or play outside.

I think a lot of people do it for a learning experience or to check out a game. I don't do it a lot but sometimes I will watch people to see pros play since they play at such a high level. I got really into watching pro players play starcraft back when it was popular because they do everything so fast and its such a fast paced game. I still find it fascinating to be honest. I also watched a couple people play Ark once just to see what it looked like. A bunch of my friends were playing it and wanted me to get it. I never ended up trying it though.

It never hurts to throw on some trick2g now and again as well. Idk I just find him hilarious.

It used to be for learning, but I'm (and the streamer community is) at the point where I'm not learning anything new aside from how broken a new champion or item combo is.

I watch LCS semi-religiously though, when a season is active and there's games going. Otherwise, I mostly just turn on a stream for the lights and sounds it provides. On the the tv I stream it when I want to eat or play handheld, and the computer when I'm working on a project where my own music would be too distracting.

And I'll echo using streams to find out about new games. I watched a Fallout4 stream (one of the ones that started before the game officially launched). Chances are pretty damn good it'll be a couple years before I actually get my hands on it, and streams let me keep in touch with the lore and pop culture fallout (ha) of it. That, and one day while browsing Twitch, I saw a stream for a 3DS game called Yo-kai Watch. It looked fun, in an off-brand Pokemon way. I got it this Sunday night at around 8ish, and in less than two days I've clocked 20+ hours in it, and that's only cause I haven't turned it on since I woke up cause I had chores and food to eat.
