Is something wrong with the servers?

Me and friends and a few randoms keep getting the most random lag spikes to where our ping will jump all the way up to 8k

I've been playing when I have had issues with the servers where everyone is d/cing at the same time. I've had issues where when someone is on my wifi my ping will go up a bit but not too drastic I have heard peeps with bad net just goes in and out (or their providers having problems)

I have never been in a game where my ping is completely normal then mid game it goes to the thousands and stays there and constantly rises as the game progresses and doesn't seem to fix itself especially not when multiple people are having the same issue
