Looking for recommendations for champions to fit my playstyle
Hey guys. I'm fairly new (I am only Lv10), but have been experimenting with various playstyles and I think I have found what I can be at least decent at: a tank in team fights, and a solo laner in early game.
Melee basic attacks just come natural to me, I prefer a farm/harass style rather than actively pursuing enemy champions (junglers that enjoy genking LOVE me on their team, since I'm getting somewhat decent at "dancing the dance" with opponents to get them to overextend and open up the genk opportunities) but do pursue set objectives like turrets in lane pretty well, and I don't deal much damage in team fights, instead acting as a meat shield to protect my damage dealers (I don't get many kills, but I do pretty decent in assists this way, so the gold and xp still comes in). With those criteria, I am looking for champions that are melee fighters, can bulk up with HP, and have at least one "ranged" attack for early game. In addition, I also like heroes that (A) have a good AoE spell for minion farming efficiently, (B) some form of healing ability, or (C) a way to quickly close into team fights and start tanking.
My best champions so far are Shyvana (A and C) and Nunu (A, even if it is his ultimate, and B), but I want to expand to be good at around 6 - 12 champions in this style, depending on how many there are that fit it and how adept I can be at that many. i have looked at tanking heroes, and I think I can probably play this style effectively with Aatrox, Cho'Gath, and Zac. Also I could possibly play as Alistar (depending on headbutt knockback range), Blitzcrank (with the passive on his ult, even if I am slower in early game getting there by not holding lane as well), Malphite (seismic Shard), Maokai (sapling toss), and Nautilus (if I can harass with Titan's Wrath effectively).
With that said, I have two questions for the community at large:
-
I have only looked over the "tank" class. Are there other heroes in other classes that fit what I want to do well that I just don't know about yet?
-
It's one thing to spend 1350 XP on an Alistar only to find out I don't play well with him, but it is quite another to spend 6300 for an Aatrox or 4800 for a Nautilus to learn the same lesson. Based on what I "need" out of my heroes (melee basic, tanking capability, and a ranged attack of some sort to harass in lane), is there anything I am missing in the heroes I listed as "probably" or "possibly" that would make them not effective for my style of play?
Thank you everyone.
