So, Poppy was really ugly, then you fixed it, then you add another really ugly champ (READ)

(Because people can't read, I'm posting this at the top; THIS IS NOT ABOUT SEX-APPEAL)

So, looking at LolKing.net charts right now, ever notice how the ugliest/least asthetically appealing champions are always the least popular?

Right now we have, in order of least popular to most (bottom 10);

Galio Urgot Yorick Skarner Maokai Karthus Swain Xerath Sejuani Singed

... So yeah, Illaoi's skills look pretty awesome, but let's face it, Riot released another brick-face immediately before fixing an old one (Poppy). Is it really necessary that champions be so... Boring looking in an attempt to be unique?

This past season;

Kalista: Alright, I get you, she's a soul-binding undead lady, that works, it's cool, it's unique.

Rek'Sai: Okay, I ... Guess League can't go wrong with a Tremor.

Bard: Well, I wanted unique and you definitely delivered here. No complaints, except, you know, Bard.

Ekko: Great, a snot-nosed punk for all the 14 year old ragers to play. Great aesthetically, awful on personality.

Tahm Kench: Unique, nailed it.

Kindred: Beautifully aesthetic character, very well done.

Illaoi; Basically what you would get if Ursula and Braum had a baby. Even her hairstyle reflects this.

AKA NO. Don't do this again Rito, I'm trusting you to be cool here.

Seriously though, she's gross. I'm sorry. But she is.

TOTALLY NOT A DIG AT WOMEN. I'm not saying she has to be super thin and have big boobs and wear g-string armor, all I'm saying is that she's very unappealing aesthetically, compared to the vast majority of the champions available.

Go play Smite instead. They rely on sex appeal just the way you like it. This isn't Smite though.

So your opinion is suppose to be the only opinion that matters? I just dont see why you need to be the person who think these champions are Ugly. its funny when you consider majority of the champions you list arent even Human. All in all if you think she (or any other champion) is gross you can you know not buy/play them. Other people will for various reasons. Your opinion isnt all that matter, this is an online game for more than a millions of players. Im sure there are people who think she looks good. I think she is ok. People are different so why would anyone want everyone to look the same charming, or ugly. it would get stale and boring!

I'm really not seeing the ugly or gross thing, I am really, really confused by your standards. Like, her splash isn't at an flattering angle, but...

Sejuni's not played b/c she was over nerfed during the cinderhulk debacle, not b/c she's not as appealing (except for that fucking boobplate lol). also, see how almost all of those champions are pretty immobile and not on the pro scene at all? Also have old models, haven't received any sort of rework (morde) or update in some time, are only good at one thing/one situation, and/or are countered very easily. I think Twitch is fucking disgusting and yet here we are.

All in all, Illaoi is a great step forward in diversifying League's design for it's female champs, she very much breaks the norms in being a human who isn't shaped like... literally every other human female in the game. She is such a power house and everything about her reflects that. We don't need another pretty princess, we need Illaoi.

Who the hell calls Sejuani ugly?

Please elaborate more on why Illaoi is "ugly," because I sure don't think she is.

I think aesthetically she's well designed. Her animations are all spot on, all her skills animations make you feel the impact. The sounds, visuals, colors and everything is just really pleasing. Play her and see how satisfying it is to just use her skills. While she might be a bit strong as it is right now (honestly can't even judge since it's been 2 days), you can still feel the power in her animations. Landing a Q feels powerful, her W's jump animation feels powerful, her ult feels powerful, the only one that doesn't really feel powerful to me is her E but that's because really all she does is throw a tentacle out and that's the animation.

This isn't even about damage, just the animations make for a powerful feel. She has a great color scheme and I honestly prefer her base skin to her Void skin. The blues, browns and greens look so much better than the purples of the Void.

Not sure why you think she's ugly as you only say she's a brick-face and that's it. Meanwhile I hate Kindred. While Lamb and Wolf are both designed well (aside from Wolf being buggy occasionally) their kit isn't well designed. They tried to make a champion that consisted of two beings and Kindred just feels like Lamb (ft. Wolf) and not enough like Lamb AND Wolf. Yet here you are praising them. It's all about opinion and just because you think Illaoi is ugly (much like I think Kindred is poorly designed) that isn't going to change anyone else's opinion or make your opinion right. I think Illaoi is more aesthetically pleasing than Kindred honestly.

Going down the list though:

  • Galio: Does well against high magic damage teams, in the current meta it's high physical damage so he isn't seen as being as good as he can be.

  • Urgot: Weird kit that labels him as a Marksman but makes him play like a Bruiser. Kit isn't 100% cohesive and hard-ish to master.

  • Yorick: Has literally been stated to be on the reworks list for years. Has even had a few potential reworks announced but these reworks changed him too much or just didn't feel right and thus were cancelled. Riot has outright said they hate his kit, he's a lane bully that has almost no counter play and making him too strong makes him impossible to deal with, so they keep him on the lower end of the damage charts to counteract this.

  • Skarner: Was the strongest of the Juggernaut's after all those reworks hit and was overnerfed and thus unplayed.

  • Maokai: A casualty of Cinderhulk being added, being too strong, Riot nerfing most champions who benefited from it, then nerfing the item and never compensating the champions that were previously nerfed for it.

  • Karthus: Has a useless passive unless you die, a thing most higher level play sees as bad regardless of if it rewards you. Has a very straightforward kit and because of his ult can't be made too strong at the risk of him being impossible to deal with.

  • Swain: Has a hard counter in Grievous Wounds and in general being able to dodge an AoE on the ground. Not very hard to play but easy to deal with in general and easy to predict.

  • Xerath: Had a kit that was near impossible to deal with and got a rework. Is 100% skill shot reliant and thus harder to play than some of the more popular picks. Most people don't want to play someone who is that hard to play when someone easier to play does just as well.

  • Sejuani: Yet another casualty of Cinderhulk like Maokai.

  • Singed: Seen as a troll pick ever since proxy Singed became a thing. Riot had to nerf this playstyle as it was near impossible to deal with and them nerfing this in turn nerfed Singed all around. Is easily countered by not chasing him.

Nowhere in here did I mention that they are ugly or poorly designed (aside from a few kits). Believe it or not some people are not influenced to play certain champions based on their looks. You say it isn't about sex appeal then say you love Illaoi's skill animations but hate how she looks. That is about sex appeal right there.
