I have requested that my account be deleted, I have been playing since Season 2 and have spent hundreds of dollars on champions and skins. The purpose of this post is not to flame or insult anyone who plays this game. More so I felt the need just to explain why, after such a significant time and monetary commitment, I decided to leave. Maybe it will make some type of difference, likely it won't but that's okay. I owed it to myself more than anyone else to explain. I am not a toxic person in my real life and no game has ever affected me the way League has... it got to the point where my wife would say that she hates the person I am when I play League. Regardless of the outcome of any match, win or lose, I never had any fun playing the game anymore. It became a destructive addiction. That, ultimately, is why I deleted my account. So I started to ask myself why the game made me so mad and this is what i came up with, in a nutshell:

Kills matter too much

It is too easy for someone on an opposing team to get "fed" and then what you have done in your lane, even if you have outfarmed and performed considerably well (maybe up a kill or two) is completely negated by the failures of another of your team members. You have no control over how other people act or choose to play the game. I won't play this game again, and can't now. It has been awhile since I've felt better about any decision I've made then deleting this account. But for those of you who are still playing here is what I propose as a fix to what I believe is the biggest problem in League:

  1. Make players kills award no gold
  2. Increase the experience gained from player kills
  3. Increase the gold gained from killing minions and accomplishing objectives

We say the game is about objectives but it isn't. The game currently grants too high a reward for a situation in which one player has a significant skill advantage over another player allowing them to "snowball" a lane, kill that player multiple times, and get completely out of hand. I believe the game needs to reduce the importance of kills and increase the importance of objectives. The reason that they won't do that, I believe, is because League has become a spectator sport designed for top level play. People want to see action and kills are action. I don't think that this change would affect the spectator product as you will still need to kill your opponent to accomplish objectives but what it will do is limit a situation in which 1 or 2 kills completely takes someone out of a lane and makes it so that they feel they can't participate. It creates a sense that, even if you make a mistake, the early game isn't over for you. All you need to do is farm and you will catch up. The game is currently designed to reward significantly skilled players and severely punish mistakes (by lesser skilled players in a matchup). For the significantly skilled players (maybe 1 in every game) I'm sure this is an ideal situation but for the rest it creates a sense of hopelessness.

I'm older than most of the people who probably play this game... maybe my hand eye coordination and reflexes aren't what they used to be. Video games used to be about having fun, if you as an individual player are having fun right now then more power to you. I was not anymore, so my story ends.

While I understand your frustration I think your solution is very wrong. To me the answer is to make towers do more damage to players (but not harder to kill the towers themselves). Sieges should actually take down towers, but you should also be reasonably safe from people killing you if you actually play safe and use a tower to help defend yourself. As someone else already said, the xp you get from kills is usually what's causing the snowballing more than the gold at first.

Being fed is due to your level Increasing the exp from a player kill will only make people snowball harder. Its not the gold thats killing you.

Also, During your time playing league from season 2 You've never encountered a farm fed Yi, Udyr, Olaf, Shyvanana, Renekton, Wukong, Nasus, Tryndamere and etc...

I agree that League is addictive and may have a negative impact on your character. It is a great waste of time from real life obligations and things. But i enjoy it and try to make it better still , so i ll have to disagree with your points to improve it. if kills dont reward as much and cs do more, then it will become a more dull, boring game. All the enjoyment in the constant almost interactions with other players allies or enemies will be lost. Also gaining more exp from kills is even worse for snowballing early game.

Good job in quitting your addiction. I hope I quit as well. Feel like I'm gonna be trapped in bronze

Well said, and I entirely agree; with riot's repeated attempts to speed up the game, it's becoming more boring and undesirable to play. Late game champions never get to have any impact since one kill snowballs the entire team; mobility has become more important than positioning or defense; and tower dives are disgustingly consistently easy to do before 5 minutes in without consequence. They changed the game from a team-based strategy, into solo-ist reflex tests; it's not interesting to watch, and working together in game isn't even rewarding. Trying to gank for an ally to catch them up often means your tower goes down instead. The only team compositions that are universally viable anymore, are either the combo-teamfight or the splitpush setup. Now to rant . . .

Then with riot continuing to force reworks on us, altering already enjoyed fairly popular champs; when there's dozens of others that have been all but abandoned by the community that they refuse to rework. This isn't the first colossal failure, but it's one of the most blatant "we're going to do it anyway" reworks. It took them 5 patches just to revert 1 change when nearly the entire community both in beta & on live told them it was a bad & unsatisfying rework. And he's still picked less than he used to. http://boards.pbe.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/champions-gameplay-feedback/KhcvQBlG-mordekaiser-change-summary-feedback-thread

Now they're starting to hide what they're doing, I'm no game designer nor am I in human resourcing, but I'm betting it's a bad idea to hide product changes from customers. http://boards.pbe.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/champions-gameplay-feedback/eA7FOHqE-why-isnt-there-a-consolidated-shen-feedback-thread-why-havent-there-been-shen-adjustments

With the snowballing changes of tanks being weak while assassins & physical carries getting buffed; this is no surprise to be a frustration of anyone who doesn't play those two classes. http://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/gameplay-balance/Uw0TEJsK-with-marksmen-playable-in-all-other-lanes-even-jungle-its-time-to-open-up-bot-for-mage-carries

Now they're overhauling mages; and so far it doesn't look promising. I'd love to see riot prove me wrong in several ways, but I've long lost faith in them. Very well written, but just take a break from league, don't delete your account

I did the same thing bud, better things to do in life than play a game all day! Just my personal preference in life! I play winter months if anything! I like the out doors, camping having a beer. I play maybe twice a week now. Spring, summer an fall time I don't even touch games! When I buy my Sled next winter I won't being games period anymore I'll be up in the hills hitting powder! Games have made the world lazy if you ask me, and have made people hate their lives in a way, not all but a good percent! If you were born to be out doors be there, better life anyway!
