Intern application to Riot

I was busy with school, so I didn't do a follow up here. Priorities right? I applied to Riot games as a game design intern. I wasn't too concerned about being a pretty casual Leaguer, because I think I had a decent skillset outside of League, so it wouldn't have affected my chances too much plus the meta changes so much that I entry isn't godly difficult for the noob to get as good as a frequent player (one of the things that I think made LoL so successful).

I'll lurk the forums some more and think about whether I should post my resume and cover letter for critique. It was somewhat nerve wracking when I sent them off though. I had met a Rioter right after Blizzcon, and she encouraged me to apply for a position (got a sweet ward skin). The deadline was the upcoming Wednesday, and the resume and cover letter that I thought I saved on Google Drive was no where to be seen. I didn't know this until Monday, so in between classes I put the thing together; something this important really shouldn't be procrastinated on. I got some awesome friends to proof it, and sent it off to be weighed in the Riot Job Tribunal or whatever they call themselves (Recruitment team?).

Things I thought about doing, but decided not to:

In the first draft of the cover letter, I closed with "Fistbump" and changed it to "Best Regards". My first thought was that Rioters reading my cover letter would probably get a kick out of it, but then I remembered that this probably went through HR first. I probably should've went and studied Riot's "corporate" structure first. The automated response I got after sending in my application closed with "Fistbumps", and I was ;( like a bitch. I still don't really know if I made the right move or hurt my chances.

My in another one of my drafts I said that I would do a follow up in the forum; in the final draft I said I would review some cases in the Tribunal. Following a cover letter's format, the former would've been more appropriate, and it sounded better when I read it too. I just remembered that I reviewed more cases than I actually made posts here, and I actually enjoyed doing that more (no offense). It probably didn't fit the job description though. I probably could have sent my application to Player Support. From the automated response, it does look like Riot takes this into consideration.

So this was a therapeutic little post. Comments are always nice. Thanks for reading.
