Play a champion for the role you're assigned.

Long story short: I wish people would be more open-minded to other roles and play appropriate champs for those roles.

Had someone who, after I had already locked in as MissFortune ADC, decided to lock in Jhin, said, "I won't support," and started farming when we got in lane. I asked them to stop and they said, "I play ADC, not supp." I left because they wouldn't even consider taking a different champ during champ select and then refused to actually sit back and be the support (not that hard, it's my main role). Shitty on my part to leave, but there was no way that game was going to go well whatsoever, and I told the team go ahead and report me, I'll take the LeaveBuster.

I wish people would become more well-rounded, and give other roles a chance, and with that comes playing a proper champion for that role. Playing a role and/or champion you aren't used to can be scary/awful/horrible etc., BUT don't pick an obviously bad choice for that role if you happen to get one you're not the best at. Just say, "Hey, I've never played this role/champ before bare with me." I know it happens to everyone, hell, I ask to trade jg a lot, but if I get stuck in the jg, I'll tell the team, just be ready for me to suck, I don't take Sona into the jg and expect to do well.

**This was in norms. I rarely see anyone pull this during ranked because in champ select, the team will actually make sure (for the most part) that everyone is in a role they're comfortable with.

I agree about the whole "Refuse to Support" nonsense, but I think off meta picks should be welcomed in norms, provided the player actually knows how to play the champ in question. Norms are the testing grounds. Ranked is where the meta should be taken seriously.

i think a main reason that people arent well rounded in roles is because they arent pushed to play those roles when they started playing. some people just see yasuo and play only yasuo from level 1 to plat 4. people will play what they want no matter what, but i agree that they should have a decent pool and ability to play all roles. they should try to implement some updated tutorial that teaches the basics of each role in game, because reading off of a website (no offense riot) really doesnt teach much at all.

Shame on you for not staying and reporting them it would have likely been a ban. I play sona bottom the other day the support refused to play support took Annie and fought me for cs. We won, I reported her and explained what they did got a pop up shortly afterwards.

While I agree play the role you are assigned, I grow tired of people assuming I don't know how to use an off meta pick. Don't flame people when they choose a champion you do not agree with. I cannot count the amount of times I get flamed for my off meta support choice only to have the adc shocked and thrilled at how well the lane is going. Are there times where the support does choose to take a non support champ to support with the intention of not supporting? Yes, and unfortunately it is more common nowadays as a result of autofill. I just ask that if you question someone's choice and they say they are supporting with them, give them a shot.

I'm not saying the person didn't know how to play their champion, they REFUSED to be the support in the lane. They, to put it bluntly, screwed the team over. I left the game, got my LeaveBuster, and I also got three "teamwork" honors when I logged back in. Why? Probably because I stood up for that crap. Yes, it's norms, and I shouldn't worry, however, I made it through 2.5 years playing only support, and I get really, really mad when people won't give it a shot.

preach. this is the game now. idk if its just all new players who only started playing in season 6 or what. before season 6 we had to know how to play all roles at a decent level, because there was no role selection. now all these people act like their role is owed to them every single game, and they should never have to play anything other than that role. then i end up getting stuck with a feeding yasuo support, feeding lee sin support, feeding quinn support, fedding aatrox support, feeding jax support, feeding katarina support...........the list goes on and on. i get a normal support champion in my lane about 30% of the time anymore. riot really needs to do something about this problem, but we havent heard a peep from them about it. its all over the boards and reddit, its not like its some under the radar issue.
