As an Ahri main, I can tell you that she ain't an easy mid champion to learn, that's for sure. You'll need to get quite a bit of experience with her under your belt before even considering using her in ranked, let alone comfortably in PvP. The main problem with Ahri is that she is very skillshot and blue-buff reliant: both her E and Q are not only her two most important skills, but also spend your mana relatively quickly (especially Charm, even moreso because of its long cooldown.) Also, her burst is lackluster if you fail to land your E. So you may often find yourself poking and getting a support-ish number of assists. So, here's the key to Assassinating optimally with Ahri:

I always start of the match with a Doran's Ring, two health pots and a warding trinket. You can help the jungler by warding the river at 1:30, but I would advise against helping leash. Ahri benefits from farming as early as humanly possible in-game; you'll need those items ASAP.

Play it safe level 1. You'll want to just farm and poke with your Q when the enemy midlaner gets a little too comfortable/close. Her Q is not a reliable waveclear until 4 or 5 points, however when her passive kicks in and her ball turns green you'll want to launch her Q into a large minion wave to activate the spell vamp. Level 2, go with E (Charm). Now you want to be constantly moving around, last hitting while looking to land your E. Use your E very sparingly early game, 'cause it consumes a ton of mana and has a long cooldown. So generally speaking, only use it when you have a clear shot (i.e. no minions in the way.) If you land it, launch your Q to get boosted magic damage and true damage on it (possibly even spell vamp from her passive), follow up with some autoattacks and ignite. This usually should get you an early kill vs. most midlaners.

First back should be for chalice item 3028 and hopefully boots of speed item 1001 as well. Buy a couple more health pots, too. You will be so grateful for the mana regen that chalice will give you. Also, ask nicely for the next blue buff from your jungler; Ahri LOVES blue buff.

Ahri's W is an...interesting spell. After a short delay, 3 foxfires will target nearby enemies and deal magic damage. They prioritize champions, but be wary that you cannot control which champions they'll target. So in teamfights it's best not to use her W until you've charmed an enemy away from their teammates. DO NOT use this skill to farm, aside from dragon/baron. Unless you land charm, her W deals little damage so opt to conserve your mana instead of wasting this spell on minions/uncharmed champions. Her Q is quite enough waveclear on its own.

Ahri's R is the cherry on top of her skillset, and honestly what made me fall in love with her play style. It is, essentially, 3 flashes/dashes in a row, each launching 3 small projectiles at the nearest enemies once she is finishing a dash. This spell also prioritizes champions, like her W. This spell gives Ahri insane mobility, and is one of the reasons why she causes ragequits on the enemy team (lol). It also gives her amazing combo possibilities, as you don't need to use all 3 dashes consecutively as long as they're used within a total of 10 seconds. One of my favorite post-level 6 combos to pull of with Ahri goes like this: R-->E-->W-->Q-->R-->R. The first dash will often put you in range to land a successful E (and land a Deathfire's Grasp if you have it), which means a kill if you pull off the combo correctly. Feel free to add a couple autoattacks between the last two dashes if needed. You can also W during an R dash to send (hopefully) 6 projectiles rocketing towards your target at once.

My skill point order for Ahri throughout the game goes like this: Q, E, W, Q, Q, R, Q, Q, W, W, R, W, W, E, E, R, E, E

One point on E is good enough for Mid-lane Ahri. Early/Mid game, having more points in E would cause it to be even more of a mana burner, which is the last thing you need.

Ignite helps secure kills, especially early. Heal helps when you're countered with something like Annie.

Your skill priority should be R > Q > E > W.

Q is your main wave clear and damage, E is higher priority than W because of the cooldown reduction and the longer CC duration. W is primarily for getting stacks of your passive to heal off of your next Q.

I usually get double Doran's Ring and then go directly for big ticket items like Deathfire's Grasp, Zhonya's Hourglass and Rabadon's Deathcap. Ahri's playstyle compliments both the DFG and ZH actives. Use DFG after hitting charm but before casting anything else, except the ult charge you used to get the Charm landed if that's the case.

And always remember to roam if you're winning your lane hard. Killing the same opponent over and over is less gold distribution than killing every lane once.

Core build is generally considered to be item 3089 item 3157 item 3128 item 3135 item 3020 plus something else.

I'd at least suggest keeping the Dcap and void staff if you want to switch things up. She likes 40% cdr but doesn't quite need it. However if you want to go that route, you'll need to change something in her core build.

A lot of AP items work on her even if only situationally. You've got more leeway if you are planning to go mage ahri over assassin ahri.

First big suggestion I can give you: Buy 5 FLAT Mana Regen Seals. This will almost double your passive mana regen in lane which means you can use your Q more often which means you get HP back from your passive more often and harass more often.

As far as gameplay is concerned, you can skip the chalice everyone is suggesting if you just buy a second doran's ring and you don't go crazy throwing out charms. Your Q doesn't cost much mana and your W is rarely used.

If you DO get chalice, don't bother finishing the Athenes for awhile. DFG is a much better first buy.

Don't. Since the mana changes and everything else she seems weak compared to other picks. Learn Zed, lol

Hello, This guy is a Master Tier one-trick Ahri main. He plays her top and mid, and streams almost every day. He usually buys morellonomicon, ludens, void staff, rabandons, and uses movement speed quints against most matchups top.

Anyway, might be worth a follow. Here's his channel:
