Not for you, but for the higher majority of players in the east and Canada it is. Chicago is much more centralized for both the US and Canada compared to portland. SO while it sucks for those that were literally right next to the servers in the start its worse, but since very few players % wise fall under that condition its helped much more.

Edit: Also I went from 120 ping when i started, to 100 after the move to portland, ~75 when they updated the infrastructure and now I have ~30 or less since the move. I can bet you more peopel are in my shoes than yours.

I get 30 ping now but I feel for the op. It sucks that riot took 6 years to do the laziest slapdash bandaid fix. It's not like having 2 servers is that hard, the guys who made rocket league managed this day one.

I'd say 6 years is enough time for a better solution than degrading the quality of service for the few to please the sniveling whiners who are now immediately propped up on their high horse shouting down any criticism, when you just KNOW if the shoe was on the other foot they'd be the first ones having a bitch fit about it on the forums.

But hey, that's riot for ya, put in the bare minimum work because everyone will just buy the shiny pixels their art team boards out every week anyway.

Are you seriously complaining about 80 ping? That's not terrible.

The server move was to reduce the majority's ping from above 100, which they managed.

Yes, your ping went up. But the nation's average ping went down. Therefore, the server move put everyone on more even ground.

You're complaining about the number, but do you even know what the number means? You can't even tell the difference between 60 and 80 ping half the time! It takes about 100 to even notice a difference.

Complaining about 80 when we had to play with 120+ ping for nearly 3 seasons. Keep crying.

That's probably a 0.08s of difference from input and relay.

I play at 300 ping, that's a 0.3s of difference so 80 ping is definitely playable.

I tried doing everything to make mine consistent (even if still bad ) I went as far as having the provider 'watch' a game to upgrading service and even getting a new computer, all this just to be happy when getting an unsteady 120 to 140 ping, with less spikes.... those are worse. I had to play a custom game every time before even getting into a bot game because it was so bad. ( 1,000- 5,000) at times.

I never felt good about playing normal games because as soon as I'd hit the second turret it was like everything was in slow motion or worse I could type but not even tell what was going on in the game...spam all button and hope when the lag wore off it might hit something. Living in fear of the LB even though I Never left a game on purpose. This is what some people go threw.

Personally, I'm sorry your went up to 80 I really am. But This is some of the problems that were solved :(

All I've ever known while playing leagye is 150+ ping lol constant lag going from lag all the time to finally being able to play normally is amazing you guys lost a couple ping so we got ours cut down in half or more seems fair to me

As someone from Hawaii who had 90 ping, but now has 120. I say it's for the greater good! There isn't that much of a notice in lag/ping. So I have no problems. Plus it seems like overall it's been stable. There were time when I would get up to 200 ping and random times when playing and it was irritating. But I have yet to go past 120 ping when I play since the move.

Honestly it shouldn't be that big of a deal. Plus I'm sure in time as tech improves they will upgrade and hopefully everyone will get less than 100 or even 50 ping. Then we will all be happy!

just wanting an honest answer to my question

And I gave you one.

I live in Massachusetts. My ping before server move: 120 My ping after server move: 50-60

The move drastically lowered the difference between east and west coast ping. Yes, the west coast has higher ping than they're used to, but at least now the playing field is more even across the country. I think the server move was a wise decision in balancing the experience for the majority of the players, not just because it benefits me.

Though unfortunately, Hawaii and Alaska are suffering pretty badly from what I hear. :(

I remember back when my average ping was 130. Now its usually half of that. How do you figure its fair that you have 16 ping and 90% of the east coast has near 100.
