Should Our Selected "Pref Champ" Really Be Auto Selected For Our Pick?

Being one of the 1st picks I hate having selected a champ I actually want to play, because if I decide to trade with a teammate lower on our pick order it signals to the other team that, "Hey I wanted x champ, steal it if you want." I know this doesn't happen often but it's a minor thing that seems to defeat the purpose of the pregame 30 second champ pref phase, or whatever it is.
