Severly dissappointed in the League of Legends' player base and Riot's inneficiency.

This post is being made for the sole purpose of venting off my frustration.

I started playing League of Legends 2 years ago because a friend recommend it. I picked it up and stopped playing other games all together because it was this game was so much fun. Goes without saying that immediately after starting to play PvP I noticed that there was an abundant number of negative people playing this game. Not a big deal until now. When you are forced to mute your entire team as soon as the match starts because the toxicity starts as soon as champion select, you know something has to change. It didn't used to be like this. As the game's popularity grows, so does its player base and with it come more and more toxic people that take the fun away from the game.

If someone would have asked me before if I recommend playing League of Legends, I would have told them: "Yeah. It takes a little bit to get into it, but once you do its so much fun!" But now if someone asks me I can't honestly recommend this game to other people. Playing this game is no longer worth dealing with the community. The only way to enjoy this game now is in parties. Riot seems to have picked up on this and started encouraging party play. However, that is not going to solve the issues. A big chunk of the player base plays alone or don't know other people that play this game. Riot seems to have also picked up on this and made it easier to find people to play with. But again, I disagree that this will solve the issue. Because you'll still have players that prefer to play alone and players that want to play, but don't have a full party. Yes, it has reached the level where even 1 random in your team will take the fun away from the game. Many of times I've queued up with 3 other friends and that 1 random player manages to suck all the fun away from the game. Muting is not enough, they simply proceed to play horribly, give up and leave us in a 4v5. "Why don't you try communicating?" Tried and failed. That's why that person is muted.

I've always seen League of Legends as very good training exercise to learn to work together with strangers. To develop leadership and communication skills. and as a good way to get to know someone, since they're play style heavily reflects a persons personality. However this information is skewed considering that this game is all ages. You will never know if the raging player is a 13 year old kid that Is on tilt and feels threatened. or 35 year old that had a very bad day at work because he was dealing with incompetence all day.

It is not unknown that people question how long League of Legends will be popular. I say it right now, if this behavior issue is not resolved it won't be long. It will fade to an underground scene with a smaller fan base. League of Legends will cause its own destruction. Same goes to the players. You want things to change and the game to last forever? Change your behavior. Riot does not have an Anger Management group unfortunately or psychologists that will help you. Either deal with it or stop playing the game. We don't need people like you sucking the life out of this game.

Riot, I'm tired of your Red Posts. They have become repetitive and stock. Same message repeated in different words and still no results. In fact, things have gotten worse. Until something is done to resolve what seems to be this games biggest issue, I will not recommend this game to new players. I will tell them how it is, and what to expect. Even if they choose to play a large number of those new players will drop the game as soon as they experience the players first hand. Keep this in mind Riot, I am but one player. How long before other players start feeling as I do? How long before they start taking the same actions as I am? How fast will the issue be resolved then? Will it be too little too late then?

I trust in you Riot, you've seldom let me down. Double your efforts.

If you have a problem with someone, report them. Failure to report is how trolls continue to troll. The system works just fine, and Riot is constantly improving on it, but that isn't even the issue here. The problem is that you remember all the annoying people, and forget all the neutral or friendly ones, which makes it feel like everybody is toxic.

How about you do a test; Play your games, and at the end of each match jot down how many of them you didn't report. I guarantee you'll look back after 20 games and realize "Hey, even though I can't remember them, I apparently thought the vast majority of people were OK".

The toxicity is the reason I have started playing pvp in premade parties only. I wont risk having a random rage at me cause of something s/he didnt like. I dont want a random to ruin my mood and in turn ruin the moods of my friends. I will agree, the toxicity has gotten marginally worse from when I started. Although, I would and still can recommend this game to new players. The game is fun, and there are good people in the community.

All of the above is the whole reason i play bots and aram only, aram is generally just silly fun same with bots. Not much if any toxic in either of those. At least from my expexperiance, i even know two other people right now of the same mind

HotS has toxic players as well, but you just don't care as much. Matches are shorter, so whatever, when someone starts raging, just flame back a little, lose, and play another match. If you're going on tilt, just mute the toxic players and problem solved.

In fact, it is refreshing how many things are possible over there. Weird hero designs? Sure! Multiple maps? Sure! Just muting ragers? Sure! Ignoring toxic players? Sure! Here, everything seems to be a problem for some reason. Whaa whaa champion X has a dash whaa whaa someone told me to kill myself over the internet and now I'm depressed whaa whaa reported for breaking the meta whaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.

I suppose for all of the money spent on the tribunal and automated bans, Riot has not yet realised that a game based on competition between members of the same team, that is supposedly about teamwork but actually rewards selfish play, will straight up cause toxicity.
