Changed up the visual design of our sales posts. What do you think?

Hey guys,

If you pop over to the most recent sales post you may notice that it looks different than our sales up to this point. Upgrading the layout of our sales posts is something my team has wanted to do for a while since we publish them twice a week, but it took a while to finish a sales redesign between evaluation of heavier content, where ineffective layouts present a higher risk.

Our primary goal with the redesign was to make the posts efficient and informative. Here are a few of the changes we've made:

  • Called out the 50% discount rate
  • Converted the names of champions into links to their information pages
  • Added lightboxing to all images
  • Reorganized the champion section to 1 row x 3 columns

Let us know how the new look is working out for you! I've attached a side-by-side of the old sales layout and the new one for easier comparison.

Warning: The fullsize image is 2160 x 2940 px (2.4 MB)

Definitely cleaner, definitely more efficient. Mission accomplished there!

From a general sales standpoint, I do wonder why you don't also show the original price to show the amount saved if they buy it now/then. I am not a salesperson or business guy at all though so it's really just curiosity on my part.

Not sure what else there's to say.

The new look just looks clean and simple.

I would suggest you link the champion splash that you are encouraging people to buy to the actual champion page so they can easily see what the champion is all about.

Plus, after all that hard work on the champion page design it will get some traffic over there.

This from here Is IMO enough.

Stick the numbers in between the first line and second line.

I have to say that I love the cleaner look and light boxes FTW! I hated it when target="_blank". So annoying to have images opening in new tabs.

Looks great! With all the website, community beta, and pre-season changes, Riot is doing some really quality work (in my humble opinion).

Here is what I find good in the new layout for sales:

This design looks better agregated;
Accomodates smaller screens (mobiles, tablets, etc.)better by shortening the length of the page
Has better focus on the champion on sale itself by limiting the splash image to the champion itself

The rest is already mentioned up there with the integrated links and the better visibility of the prices.

The cleanup is awesome knowing the goals you had in mind. While I'm a lorehound and absolutely loved the fun stories, I understand that they can be obnoxious for other people who just want to get to the point. Also the lightboxing is really nice and clean, makes a much bigger difference than I expected it to. Overall, I can't find any complaints into issues you guys were addressing, but I will dearly miss the stories.

One thing that's kind of annoying for me (I'm at work atm so the monitor is fairly small) is clicking the art to open the splash makes the artwork expand the page past my viewing area, and just clicking the background doesn't remove the image, so I have to manually scroll over the bottom right of the image and click the X everytime I look at a full splash.

I approve. It looks cleaner, takes up less space and having a full splash art for a sale seemed to be a moot/redundant point.

Good work.
