Question about MMR and how it works

This is kinda a weird question I was thinking about and wanted to see if someone could answer it.

Is it possible to have a high MMR like equal to someone who plays silver 1 but actually be in bronze 3? I am asking because you can't see your MMR and if you are a good player and let's say you try to always play mid or ADC and normally have a 1.75KD and you just have teammates who feed and you just can't overcome and you lose and your having problems winning but it's not really your fault. So every game you don't do bad but can't crawl outta the rank you are due to teammates does your MMR still climb even when you lose? So could your MMR still rise even though you are in bronze?

Thanks sorry for weird question was just thinking about it.

Mmr is based off w/l and not any ingame stats. Yes it's possible to have mmr extremely higher than your rank. My s1 smurfing plays with plat 3+ only.

Its possible, not likely, but possible.

the ladder or league point system is (once you have been placed) semi mutually exclusive from MMR. Your mmr can be much higher or lower than your division.

1.75 kd is terribad...im not being mean to you, i just think you need some perspective. You claim everyone around you is the problem but 1.75 is actually not good.

you gain mmr when you win. winning more than losing will gradually breathe life into your mmr.

you have some work to do according to op.gg (although they may have done the soft reset which shits on your mmr...i really hate that garbage) but you have had a good 4 game win streak, if you keep that up you will be just fine.

Unfortunately no your mmr will rise and fall with winning and losing respectively however the better you do in games that you win the higher it will go. In the better you doing games that you lose the less mrr you will lose. The amount of lp you gain or lose is a good indicator of mmr if you gains 40 when you win and lose 10 when you lose that is an indicator that you are above your rank if those numbers are flipped as an indicator that you are below your rank in terms of MMR

Yes. This is possible. But if you are "stuck" in a league, don't get your ego up thinking its your MMR causing problems.

MMR is invisible, like you said, but it can still be observed at the end of games. LP, the thing we can see, is actually less important (Ironic right?).

MMR determines who your opponents will be, but there are average MMR values for each league that occur naturally. So lets say you get placed into silver 3. You queue up for a ranked game and win it. Your MMR goes up, and you get 16 lp. You queue up again, win again, and this time get 20 lp. I'm speeding up this process a bit, but in your third game you get 25 lp for the win (HOT STREAK).

What is happening? As you win, you are gaining lp, but you are also gaining MMR. What is going on is the game is seeing that your MMR is higher than the opponents in the league you are in, and starts giving you more LP per win so you rise through the divisions and leagues faster to get to your skill level. So consistently winning games will cause you to earn more lp per game because the game thinks you are much more skilled than the people you are playing against. The same is true in the opposite direction as well, go on loosing streaks and your MMR will start to fall, resulting in the game thinking you are in a league out of your league (see what I did there?) and you will start to lose more lp per win. There is a buffer of a few games before MMR starts to fall (and lp changes become dramatic), but in general thats how it works.

So if your MMR and rank are initially below where you should be, as you win games (because you are a better player than your peers in the division) your MMR will rise. And then your MMR and rank will bounce back and forth as you get closer and closer to your true MMR.

Thanks for the answers it shows me how the system works. I didn't know mmr goes up and down based on win and lose I though MMR was based on how you played.
